Time flies when you’re making a difference. Eight years ago, we launched our employee volunteer program, empowering each LMCU employee to take an annual, paid day to volunteer in their community for a cause they’re passionate about. Check out what our LMCU Impact Crew has done so far this year.

Embodying the core values and principles that our mothers imparted to us is a powerful way to honor their wisdom and guidance. Here are some ways to actively live in accordance with these values: Compassion and Empathy: Practice empathy and compassion in our interactions with others. By showing kindness and understanding, we uphold the values of empathy that our mothers instilled in us. This can be as simple as lending a listening ear to a friend in need or volunteering to help those less fortunate in our communities. https://amzn.to/3U6Ht7Z

Dynamic Accomplished Leader in Telecommunication Engineering, Consulting, Marketing, and Real Estate | Driving Innovation and Delivering Exceptional Results
In organizations that depend on volunteers, it's essential to wholeheartedly appreciate the individuals who generously give their time, as well as the invaluable contributions they make. When this appreciation is genuinely expressed, remarkable achievements become possible. However, if such recognition is lacking, unintended consequences may arise. Embracing and celebrating the selflessness of volunteers not only leads to positive outcomes but also fosters a sense of fulfillment and unity within the organization, creating a win-win scenario for everyone involved. Have you had experiences where you were not valued as a volunteer, conversely have you been valued as a volunteer? What was the outcome in both cases?

Brigid's Day | Lá Fhéile Bríde For just over a year now, I have felt Brigid's knock on the door; she has crossed the threshold from her world into mine in many ways. My middle name is Brigid, so I feel Brigid-centred. I was born on the 9th of February, not long after her feast day. I come from a long line of Brigid's. My maternal grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother are and were all Brigid's, to name but a few connections. When my mother passed away in January last year, there was just one thing that I wanted of hers, and that was her St Brigid’s Cross. I didn't know why at the time, but I can engage in its symbolism now. The celebration of Brigid's Day as a national holiday in Ireland underscores the significance of embracing change and transition. Brigid embodies the duality of many spiritual traditions and symbolises the threshold, the space between two opposites. Participating in this liminal space, perhaps through deeper exploration of ourselves, through intuitive practices, invoking Imbas, active imagination, dream analysis, and communing with nature could help initiate this, allowing us to gain self-awareness and a deeper understanding of humanity and the other-than-human world. Through arts and culture, we can explore thresholds and gain insights into our emotions and experiences to navigate transformation and change. However, contemporary Irish society faces challenges, such as a lack of meaningful rites of passage, a loss of connection with our inner selves, hustle culture, and environmental apathy. Addressing these issues by promoting structured rituals and preserving natural rhythms can lead to a more sustainable and fulfilling future. We can create a more harmonious and thriving society by recognising the importance of embracing transition and change while preserving cultural traditions. Brigid reminds us that navigating transitional periods can lead to self-discovery and that exploring thresholds offers a rich metaphor for exploring a wide range of human experiences and emotions. #BrigidsDay #Imbolc #InnerWisdom #Inspiration #GoddessBrigid #Imbas #JuniganPsychology #creativity #ireland #StBrigidsDay

I have shared about this before - but AmeriCorps allowed me the opportunity to serve my community as a first-generation college student. I used my AmeriCorps Segal Award to make monthly payments on my excessive student-loan debt. It was a game changer as someone who had to work almost full-time as a student and couldn't take on any internships while in college. Consider sending a message to your senators about increasing funding to AmeriCorps for FY25. "These proposed cuts come during a difficult time when demand for AmeriCorps is greater than the funding available. In fact, what is needed is more funding – not less. Without increased funding in FY25, more than 34,000 AmeriCorps and 6,000 AmeriCorps Seniors positions will be eliminated next year. The House bill would serve a death knell, eliminating at least 71,000 AmeriCorps positions. Congress is facing some challenging decisions about spending priorities and that is why we need to urge them to support AmeriCorps. There is an explosion of needs in our country and now is the time to invest in AmeriCorps, not cut it." - Voices for National Service https://lnkd.in/erry9bmU

Most ISPs approach customer problems with an “us” vs “them” mentality. We know better, and work diligently leveraging our vast array of cutting-edge network management tools and comprehensive training programs to resolve issues quickly, and without assigning blame. This "solutions first" approach is but one thing that makes us unique, and it's part of what we do that results in an extraordinary customer experience.
Today we want to take a moment to send a shoutout to our CSR of the month for July 2023! This month we had a fierce competition, ultimately ending in a tie between Yesica M. and Martin S. Thank you for all you do to keep our clients and residents happy and thriving by embodying compassionate support!

What a topic to tackle: volunteer comfort and care . . . I'm still mulling over some of my takeaways from the conversation, including 🫂 - responsible comfort and care of our volunteers is about relationships and culture more than policy. Individuals have different needs; we need to entrench a culture of checking in, encouraging/respecting boundaries, asking for feedback, celebrating as a team. 🍶- even though, being intentional about the minimum standards for comfort, and caring for the physical, social, cultural and psychological wellness of the volunteer is a program responsibility and should be codified. If they're doing the work they need to have the tools to do it, and the resources to do it safely. Water and hats on hot days; checking in after an emotionally taxing responses. How does this look at your organization? 🤝 - volunteer comfort and care is embedded across the volunteer lifecycle. It starts with solid understanding of the scope of work and appropriate placement, continues as we provide training and enable the work, and is ever present in how we appreciate volunteers, how they engage with the work, etc, etc. Just like justice, equity, diversity and inclusion work, comfort and care isn't a project or initiative on the side, it's to be entrenched and cultural. Thanks Alex and Kamak for the super conversation this morning!
This morning, I had the pleasure of moderating Association of Volunteer Management Professionals Nova Scotia (VMPNS)’s monthly network meeting which explored the topic of Volunteer Comfort and Care. The panelists, Kanak Bal from Korean K9 Rescue and Emily Masse from Canadian Red Cross shared the different ways that they support their volunteers fulfill their organization’s mission. Thank you for your insights, Kanak and Emily!
