Celebrating the work of our incredible corps member, Maria Gomez (Miami-Dade '22)! 🌟 Ms. Gomez's dedication to celebrating student growth, not just achievement, sets a powerful example for educators everywhere. In her classroom, it's not just about hitting benchmarks; it's about acknowledging every step of progress. Her visual culture, highlighting the growth students make alongside proficiency, sends a vital message, especially as testing season approaches. But that's not all. Ms. Gomez's instruction is a masterclass in joy, rigor, and engagement. And the results speak for themselves. Starting with 71% of students scoring at level 1 on FAST at the beginning of the year, Ms. Gomez has reduced that to under 60% by the middle of the year. Not to mention, she's more than doubled the number of students scoring at proficiency. Ms. Gomez, your dedication and passion are truly making a difference in the lives of your 5th-grade mathematicians. Keep up the amazing work! We can't wait to see how your students continue to grow and thrive throughout the rest of the year.

Beyond Taboos: Rethinking Education for a Changing World. The 20th Annual York University Graduate Student Conference in Education will be taking place from May 6-8, 2024. This milestone year marks a bold exploration of uncharted territories within the field of education under the theme Beyond Taboos: Rethinking Education for a Changing World. I'm excited to present a paper in which I encapsulate my journey from being an artist to artist-educator, influenced by J Krishamurthy and Paulo Freire's educational philosophies in a borderless, fearless, inclusive teaching-learning environment.

This is for the teaching fraternity, do we think and believe we are better (at par, must say) than the teachers who taught us a decade ago? Do we even think we are even 10% as good as those legendary teachers? Personally, I don't consider myself worthy of such comparison. I strongly believe that in the rat race for accreditations, affiliations, and other formalities or documentations, we hve lost the true charm of teaching. We are more focused on paperwork, on documenting what was done, and justifying outcomes on paper, rather than achieving real impact in the minds and souls of students and seeing the joy on their faces after a fulfilling class. Great honor for my amazing teachers... P.S. These are just my personal opinions, and I must say that I could be mistaken due to my limited knowledge or understanding.

"Too good to be true? That's the question I often hear about classical education. Recently, while hosting parent groups, this sentiment echoed once more. Their reactions - a mix of awe and disbelief - to the rich classical curriculum curated by Hillsdale College K12, are both humbling and affirming. The unique structure, beauty, and depth of a classical classroom have struck a chord with families. Since July 2023, each interaction with these concerned and hopeful parent groups has invigorated my journey as Headmaster of a startup classical academy. Their excitement fuels my passion and reinforces my belief in classical education’s critical timing, or “kairos.” Let's turn this 'too good to be true' perception into a nationwide educational opportunity. Classical education should be a school choice.
