Posted 1 day ago, this job has 0 applicants, despite being promoted. Why? Because it’s an entry-level warehouse “picker” role. That’s it. It’s no different than every single other warehouse picking role in the world. Why are companies trying to church up role titles thinking that’s going to get candidates in the door? Meanwhile, no salary info. No shift info. Vague benefits info. Literally not one shred of information a rational job-seeker would want to see before applying (and I would bet their application process isn’t a breezy one). Am I the only one who finds these entry-level roles being “otherwise titled” extremely annoying?

Job descriptions, JD's, Job Specs... Would a Pizzeria advertise its menu like this? 🍕 Of course not! Because the whole purpose of an advert is to build interest and attract a potential buyer. Yet, 90% (probably higher) of job adverts look like a shopping list of "requirements" and "must haves". A job advert is not the same as a job description, yet for most, they're one and the same thing - copy/paste. The advert should be used to "sell" why someone should be interested. The job description should share the detail of the role. Imagine a car manufacturer sending you the car manual when trying to lure you to buy their car. They give you the sexy brochure with all of the features and benefits and show you how great it is - the manual comes later. You might be surprised at how much more interest can be generated in the vacancy, not to mention attracting more diverse talent if you just... ...Communicate the things that your audience genuinely want to understand before deciding to apply. No job deserves disrespect. Lately, I've seen advice on how to spin job titles into something fancier. You know, the whole "culinary engagement manager" makeover for someone who works at a fast-food place. Look, I get wanting control over how you're perceived. But this trend makes me a little sad. ❓ Why do we feel pressured to upgrade our work just for the sake of status? Every job out there – from pilots to dishwashers – matters. It keeps our world running! Maybe you flip burgers to support your family, or you're a student hustling for extra cash. Those are valid reasons. 💡 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘂𝗽 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼. I walk the talk, and I'll go first. I just added my work experience in a warehouse to my CV.
