📣 Optimizing Case Id prefix in Pega ➡ In Pega we have an option to customize the case id prefix which can be done in multiple ways. ➡ For example let us take an test case ID : "A-123", here the case id A-123 can be segregated in to 2 parts, "A-" is considered as prefix and it is stored in ".pyWorkIDPrefix" & "123" is considered as suffix  ".pyWorkIDSuffix" ➡ Let us consider a scenario where the case id prefix will have a 2 digit current year (refer below document for code), Step 1: Remove the default value of work ID prefix from application's case & data tab or else this value will override all other places. Step 2: Make the below changes in pyDefault data transform as this DT is used to set default values, pyDefault is created by pega at the time of case type creation, this DT will be called at the beginning of case creation due to that this dt is used to set case ID prefix. Step 3: Obtain the year from the current date and store it in a param, Pega has lot OOTB functions to get current date & for formatting. @FormatDateTime(@CurrentDateTime(),"yy","GMT","") -- this will get the 2 digit current year Step 4: Concatenate the above 2 digit value to case id prefix value as below & set the value to ".pyWorkIDPrefix" "D-"+Param.FiscalYear+"-" *** please ignore if any grammatical mistakes & if any suggestions or advices please post it in the comments*** Source :- https://lnkd.in/g2t2JcSU #pega #learnings

In this post I am Going to Elaborate Basics of Data Types in pega. In my previous post I discussed briefly about Data class. So Data class is must be of Concrete class. In data type we are refrerring to Data class + storage. So whatever data do you want to fetch you will maintain in data type(Records tab). We can refer these data in our work related classes wherever we want using page (single page property and mention the data type class.)So all stored data can be referred using page and using that page we can display those data in ui. Lets talk about When we create Data type what ootb rules get auto created. There are many rules actually but we will consider few highlighted points only:- i)When we create Data Type one Data class is also gets created. ii)Three Data Pages also gets created. iii) Reporting &Report Definition is also gets created. Use of Data Type :- a.)Data Type is used to hold the records of data where each property is A Db column. b)Data Type Have a Dedicated storage Mapped to specific Schema in Backend. c)When ever or where ever we need these data we just refer the refrence of these Data class using those we can display data into or UI. d)From UI if we want some data to be stored that too we can do with the help of Data Type(any of the rules like Activity, Data Page with the method of Obj save etc). e)If we want to Cascade our ui based upon some criteria there we can display the data in dropdown format also using report defination along with data page and parameters.
