#UPCOMING: Symposium of the International Future Lab AI4EO 2024 – JULY 15-16, 2024 (Translation / #AI4EO = Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation) I am currently "prototyping" a paper / presentation regarding #GreenAI in relation to #RemoteSensing within the research area of #ArtificialIntelligence for Earth Observation. My current "research trajectory" for this symposium would be to find a way to apply "Green Artificial Intelligence" principles and practice to monitoring livestock in alpine regions. We're starting commercial operations, how exciting!! In this image we've used Independent Component Analysis (ICA) for dimensionality reduction, squeezing 23 bands worth of information into Red, Green, and Blue color channels. This is a great way to start to visualize all of the information contained within hyperspectral imagery 🤓 ICA is typically used in signal processing to separate mixed signals, however it also has applications in dimensionality reduction for hyperspectral data. It promises to deliver better results than PCA (Principal Component Analysis), as detailed in the following paper (worth a read!): A. Villa, J. Chanussot, C. Jutten, J. A. Benediktsson and S. Moussaoui, "On the use of ICA for hyperspectral image analysis," 2009 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, Cape Town, South Africa, 2009, pp. IV-97-IV-100, doi: 10.1109/IGARSS.2009.5417363.
Wyvern is now delivering hyperspectral images to our customers and is proud to have started commercial operations!🛰️ Come discover the difference hyperspectral imaging can bring to agriculture and vegetation monitoring applications. In this image we have applied dimensionality reduction using Independent Component Analysis to highlight the incredible amount of information within Wyvern’s hyperspectral data. Hyperspectral data enables deeper insights into plant health and speciation.🌱🌾🌳 Contact sales@wyvern.space to place your order! #Wyvern #BetterFromSpace #hyperspectral #smallsat

It’s #CitSciFri! Citizen science is a powerful tool that can help answer wide-ranging research questions, including questions about fisheries. NOAA Library recently hosted a webinar in which they dove into examples of citizen science being used in stock assessments, both domestically and internationally. Take a look at the recording to learn more about how data collected in partnership with the public is used to inform stock assessments. https://lnkd.in/e5mfQzK3 Interested in contributing to citizen science in the South Atlantic? 🌐✨ Pioneering Optimal Control in Fisheries Quota Management 🐟🔍 I’m excited to unveil a new approach in fisheries quota management with Tannaz A. Ashrafi and Alberto Ceccacci, where for the first time, we've explicitly modeled quota adjustments using differential equations. By integrating optimal control theory, we've illuminated the optimal dynamic trajectories for quota adjustments over time. This innovative methodology offers a novel lens to forecast and sustainably manage fish stocks. With only test data for now, the optimal quota is of course smaller than the fish stock, while the optimal adjustment in quota each time point varies, reflecting the real world situation in quota decision-making at Fiskeridirektoratet (Norge) 📊💡 Our model navigates uncharted waters by employing advanced mathematics to predict how fishing quotas should evolve, ensuring balance and responsiveness to ecological and economic signals. The singularity in our results, despite a quadratic cost function, presents an unexpected twist—revealing singular behaviors that spark new questions for further researches. 🔬🎣 More funny and intriguing results are yet to come. #FisheriesQuotaManagement #OptimalControl #BioeconomicModelling
