Regarding The Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship) “In every aspect of my life, The Six Pillars have become a guidepost. I like to think of (them) as 'I and action'. What can I do to act in a capacity worthy of trust? What can I do to treat people with respect regardless of our differences or how they may treat me? What can I do to be responsible, to be accountable for the choices I make and the consequences of those choices both positive and corrective? Do I demonstrate fairness in my decisions, especially those that impose benefit or burdens to others? Can I demonstrate a caring heart in my actions? AND Can I be a good citizen by fulfilling my duties to the communities in which I belong?” ― Scott Raecker, executive director of The Robert D. and Billy Ray Center at Drake University, where the mission is to improve civility through character development and ethical leadership

Did you know that only 1% of C-Suite executives are Latina? The reasons are many - one of them being that it is a lonely place. LEAL aims to change that in the charter space. Apply to be a part of the change by connecting, healing and leading through El Camino.
🌍 Creating change in the charter school landscape is difficult because Latino leaders are often alone. 🌍 El Camino changes all of that with our 9-month long journey dedicated to building something different. 🔗 Apply here: https://lnkd.in/gQWbZrBB

Dust off those dreams... We can get so weighed down by routines, obligations, doubts, and fears about what's "realistic." But dreaming shouldn't be tied to realism! Dreaming is about giving ourselves permission to think bigger, without limits or judgment. It's where creativity and possibility are born. So let's make a pact, you and me. Once a week, we take an hour to ourselves, find a quiet cozy spot, and just let our minds dream freely again like we did as kids. Imagine the life you want, no matter how "unrealistic." Dream up that paradise vacay, that profession you've always wanted to explore, or whatever crazy idea comes to mind. Who knows where it could lead us? Register today:

Two responses from Pope Francis, a figure known for his progressive and inclusive views, were worth pondering in the context of youth and societal progress. ⭐ "A young Person who is Afraid and does not take risks is an old person." How accepting are we with risk-taking in the Singapore workspace? Have we incentivised risk-taking? ⭐ "Young People are not just the future; they are the architects of it. They should be critics, but their criticism should be constructive, aimed at building a better future." Pope Francis's emphasis on constructive criticism invites us all to participate in shaping a better future. But clearly, the generations define a 'better' future differently. How do we create a win-win?

Strategic In-House Legal Counsel | Navigating Extractive Industry Challenges Ethically & Effectively in Africa
👋 Hello! I've been mostly offline since last week and I’m back...with a potentially controversial opinion. I saw a clip of Will Smith (with Martin Lawrence while promoting the new Bad Boys film) and it has been replaying in my head. It spoke deeply to me. Excellence is a habit, but it’s an all-consuming habit. As Fisayo Longe puts it, it requires a "beastmode-level of dedication that can take a lifetime." However, in my experience, it’s not practical to expect to be excellent in everything, all the time. Working in-house is a team sport, even when you are solo counsel. It requires a system, input, and support from numerous stakeholders working collaboratively. For excellence to be achieved consistently, the entire organization and teams must share it as a core value. Trying to push others towards excellence daily when it’s not a shared value isn’t just exhausting; it’s probably futile. The key skill then to master is discernment: knowing what truly requires excellence so it can be prioritized. Do you agree? How do you balance the drive for excellence with practical limitations? By the way, have you seen the movie yet? #Excellence #Teamwork #InHouseCounsel #LegalProfession #ProfessionalGrowth #Leadership
