When Buy Social Canada and Tapestry Community Capital first started collaborating, our conversations noted how siloed conversations around community finance and social procurement could be. For us, it’s a simple premise: businesses need both access to capital and ongoing customer spending to succeed in the market. This is especially true for social enterprises, which deliver blended value through social and financial outcomes, but may face additional barriers that traditional for-profit businesses do not. The PATH to reconciliation - Four Sacred or Essential Tools PATIENCE - We are not achieving reconciliation by next Tuesday. Have patience with the people you are working with, your team, and with yourself. AWARENESS - Be aware of what is going on in the lives of those that do not look like you. What is happening in the First Nation community you are attempting to work with? Do they have higher priorities than your project to contend with? TENACITY - Don’t give up. Maybe you have to give up for today and return to a conversation tomorrow or next week but make sure to return. HUMILITY - Remember “Humility builds bridges, ego burns them.” You may be an expert on your products or services. You are not an expert on Indigenous life or even on one specific community. We at RWC believe that every conversation must include these four sacred or essential tools so as to allow us to move closer to reconciliation. Think of recent conversations you have had (especially those involving Indigenous/non-Indigenous communication). Did you use these four tools? How would things improve if you did? At Reconciliation Works Canada, we serve non-Indigenous entities who wish to: • Hire Indigenous Peoples • Retain Indigenous Peoples • Work with or for Indigenous Peoples • Sell to Indigenous Peoples • Increase their Indigenous engagement. Whether you wish to engage with a local community, hire Indigenous peoples, or retain the employees you have, we have your back! Throughout the year, the GIB Asset Management ED&I Forum will be hosting 4 sessions on topics related to areas of priority in our ED&I strategy. For the first session, we were delighted to welcome Alexandra Sufit, Social Impact Consultant, speaking on Social Mobility. Alexandra was part of the Social Mobility Commission team that launched the seminal Employers Program, partnering with British businesses to tackle the 'class pay gap' and drive socio-economic diversity across the UK. In the session, Alex facilitated an interactive discussion on why and how to build a socio-economically diverse workforce, looking at questions around the personal future impacts of our socio-economic backgrounds, and how diverse the workforce is in the Financial Services industry. #socioeconomicmobility #equalitydiversityandinclusion #financialservices

The Middle East is currently facing a unique challenge. In our rapidly changing global economy, financial success requires adaptability and innovation. However, throughout the region’s rich history, commercial success has long been intertwined with heritage, and many family businesses are now challenged to balance their heritage with the demands of a modern, interconnected world. The experts at LGT Private Banking explore this topic in this article on Gulf Business. #familyoffice #middleeast #wealthplanning
