What Factors Affect the Gloss and Roughness of Coatings? 🌟 Raw Materials The coatings on paint protection films (PPF) need to meet various performance requirements such as stretchability, permeability resistance, self-healing, aging resistance, acid-alkali resistance, and hydrolysis resistance. These features are achieved through different formulations and processes. The specific formulations and processes used will impact the final gloss of the film. Therefore, the gloss can vary depending on the material composition and manufacturing techniques. 🔧 Processing Conditions The formation process of the coating plays a significant role in determining the surface roughness and gloss. The multilayer structure of PPF is formed through coating processes that combine the functional coating, TPU base film, and pressure-sensitive adhesive. The coating process includes two main steps: the adhesive coating and the functional layer process. Afterward, the material must rest for 12-24 hours to allow full bonding between the adhesive and raw materials, ensuring greater stability of the film’s properties. ⚙️ Coating Methods and Technology There are various coating techniques such as micro-embossed coating, slot die extrusion coating, comma blade coating, gravure coating, and reverse contact coating. These different methods will result in varying gloss levels. Additionally, factors like coating thickness, leveling of the coating liquid, and temperature will affect the coating quality. In factories with less advanced coating technology, the gloss level of PPF may suffer due to poor production processes. 🌫️ Haze and Gloss Haze refers to the ability of the PPF to scatter light, and the TPU base material accounts for up to 70% of the PPF's weight. Soft pvc process, Vinly process, Injection molding process, Resin process If you want to customize a large number of blind box, then pvc injection molding is a better choice, the amount of large production price is more cost-effective,PVC is good, easy to color, molds can be used for a long time. If the quantity is not too much, such as the statue can consider using PU resin, Polystone to develop and produce, good texture, good detail performance. The disadvantage is that the price is more expensive, brittle texture, mold life cycle is limited. Soft PVC material, shorter cycle, suitable for small batch customization, low cost of molding, but the texture is general. Vinyl process, the product is hollow, can make a larger volume of dolls, soft and hard adjustable, this process is suitable for more rounded shape, can also be customized in small quantities, but the unit price is higher!
