Water can pose a major threat to a building’s structure and contents. An engineer’s goal is to figure out how to effectively waterproof roofs and facades while maintaining the beauty that the architect envisioned. In this video, SGH’s Travis St. Louis, P.E. discusses the important supporting role in roofing and waterproofing that we take on and illustrates the different systems and considerations that we account for when working on these projects. https://lnkd.in/d5bU3hY6

Keyfix has partnered with Ardmore Construction to supply cutting-edge Non-Combustible Cavity Tray Systems (NCCT) for the £100m Kidbrooke Station Square regeneration project. This development, led by Notting Hill Genesis and designed by Glen Howells Architects, includes 413 new homes spread across six residential blocks, with facades reaching up to 16 storeys. Keyfix’s innovative A1 fire-rated NCCT systems, crafted from Grade 304 stainless steel, were specified to ensure superior fire safety and moisture ingress prevention, exceeding current building regulations. The project incorporated 4,500 metres of NCCT systems, 3,700 corner units and reveals, pre-formed Pier Units, and 14,000 non-combustible weeps. Close collaboration between Keyfix and Ardmore Construction ensured a seamless process, with tailored technical support including site visits, design team participation, CPD webinars, and detailed layouts. This partnership highlights the importance of innovation, precision, and teamwork in delivering large-scale, high-quality construction projects. in this week’s episode, host Kristin Hayes talks with Pat Layton, director of the Wood Utilization + Design Institute at Clemson University, about the resurgence in constructing buildings with wood and, in particular, with mass timber. Layton discusses the development and adoption of mass timber in the United States, along with the environmental and architectural benefits of integrating mass timber into construction projects. Layton also discusses the manufacturing process for mass timber and the fire resistance and structural strength of the material compared to more mainstream building materials, such as steel and concrete. https://lnkd.in/ekjdTaJk

At DEPROM, we believe it’s always worth creating a mock-up panel. It’s not just a test—it’s a blueprint for success. For the upcoming project, we’ve designed a mock-up panel featuring Ibstock Niveus brick slips with a range of details, including flat, header, corner, and non-90-degree corner types. By incorporating various materials the panel allows: ✅ Test different details in one place. ✅ Visualize how everything will come together on-site. ✅ Assess joints and explore effective filling solutions. This step ensures precision, reduces surprises on the construction site, and highlights one of the key advantages of precast concrete—the ability to see and refine before full-scale implementation. A big thank you to the great Legendre UK team and architect Jonathan Pinfield for visiting and reviewing the mock-up panel for their Parsons Green office scheme in London’s Parsons Green. 📢 Architects, developers, and contractors: Let’s build smarter. Collaborate with DEPROM for innovative solutions that transform vision into reality. #PrecastSolutions #Ibstock #BrickSlips #London2025 #ConstructionInnovation
