On this International Women's Day, let's reflect on the incredible evolution of engineering over the past decade! Did you know that the proportion of women pursuing engineering degrees has steadily increased, now ranging from 20% to 25% of undergraduate engineering students? This significant shift underscores a move towards greater diversity and inclusivity within the field. Despite facing historical hurdles, women are boldly breaking barriers and leaving their indelible mark on the construction and engineering landscapes. Yet, our journey towards equality is far from over. We must cultivate an environment where aspiring youth, irrespective of gender, feel empowered to pursue their aspirations. Let's commemorate the strides we've made while acknowledging the ongoing work ahead of us. Together, let's forge a future where every young girl sees construction or engineering not just as a possibility, but as a promising and fulfilling career path! #WomenInEngineering #DiversityInSTEM #ProgressInclusion #IWD2024 #WomenInConstruction #WomenInCompaction

In engineering, women are in the minority at just 16.5% of the workforce. In fact, gender disparity is seen throughout all educational pathways into engineering. Of the 262 Engineering End Point Assessments that our team of assessors have carried out over the past 12 months or so, only 9 have been female candidates. So, today, on International Women's Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, we stand united in our belief that more should be done to highlight the opportunities for women in engineering as a challenging and rewarding career. But how can we target women into engineering? Showcasing historical and current roles of responsibility and experiences may be part of the answer – but what else should we be doing? #iwd2024 #EngEPA

🌟 Celebrating International Women’s Day - Women in Engineering 🌟 Today, we're shining a spotlight on the incredible women in our lives, and in particular those who are making waves in the engineering sector! 💡🔧 Engineering has long been considered a male-dominated field, but times are changing, and women are breaking barriers, shattering stereotypes, and leaving an indelible mark on the industry. Why is it so important to celebrate and encourage women in engineering? Here are just a few reasons: 🌟Diverse Perspectives: Women bring unique perspectives and problem-solving approaches to the table, enhancing innovation and creativity within the field. 🌟 Representation Matters: By showcasing successful women in engineering, we inspire future generations of young girls to pursue their passions in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). 🌟 Addressing Global Challenges: From sustainable infrastructure to renewable energy solutions, women engineers are at the forefront of tackling some of the world's most pressing challenges. 🌟 Closing the Gender Gap: Encouraging more women to pursue careers in engineering helps to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields, promoting equality and diversity in the workplace. 🌟 Building a Better Future: Ultimately, the contributions of women in engineering are instrumental in building a brighter, more inclusive future for all. And whilst we’re talking about female trailblazers, we have to mention Dianne who founded Apex Recruitment in 1978. So, let's celebrate the women who are shaping the world through engineering, and let's continue to champion diversity and inclusion in the STEM community! 💪🚀 #Internationalwomensday #WomenInEngineering #DiversityInSTEM #Innovation #Empowerment

I am Purpose Driven with Disruptive Presence. My Purpose : Be AUTHENTIC, live ABUNDANTLY and MAKE A DIFFERENCE no matter the stage fuelled by pursuit for SUSTAINABLE EXCELLENCE
Today marks International Women's Day in Engineering. It's disheartening to note that female engineers are still considered rare in the industry. In the 70s, only 3% of engineers were women, a figure that has only slightly increased to 13% by 2019. Despite excelling in STEM subjects, many women with degrees in engineering do not enter the workforce or end up leaving. The question we must ask is why? Challenges persist due to the discomfort women face in breaking into male-dominated spaces. Gender biases, norms, and practices create hurdles that hinder their progress. Those who do manage to enter the field often find themselves as the sole woman in a room full of men, struggling to assert their confidence and secure equal opportunities. Structural barriers, such as exclusionary practices in certain roles, further perpetuate this inequality. Being a female engineer is undoubtedly tough. Balancing long work hours with other responsibilities can be overwhelming, leading some to quit. However, it's crucial to recognize the importance of female role models in inspiring the next generation of girls. While the journey may be arduous, many women persevere, driven by the responsibility to create a more equitable world for all. #EnhancedByEngineering #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInSTEM #GenderEquality #EngineeringIndustry #DiversityandInclusion

How do we get more females into Engineering? Is it about getting more females interested in STEM? Is it about removing unconscious biases of the people around them? Is it about fixing systemic inequities? Or is it about creating more visible female role models? When I did my bachelor's in Information Technology many years ago - we were 4 female students in a class of 32. Later, while pursuing my Masters in Human Resources the ratio was reverse! International Women in Engineering Day is celebrated on June 23 every year. And it's time we start searching for answers and solutions. Check-out this article ... #DNV #engineering #DEI

Today marks International Women in Engineering Day and this year’s theme of #EnhancedByEngineering is at the heart of what we do 💚 The UK’s engineering sector is considerably less diverse than the general population, meaning many groups are underrepresented in the workforce. With diversity of talent comes the diversity of thought that is needed to solve the challenges and drive the innovations of the future. We’re supporting this year’s theme #EnhancedByEngineering, giving female engineers a profile when they are still hugely under-represented. With 2021 figures indicating that only 16.5% of engineers in the UK are women, we want to encourage more women and girls to take up engineering careers 👷♀️ Hear from Dolores Fearnside, Senior Electrical Operations Engineer, about her career path as a female engineer and what inspired her into her role 👇 #INWED24
