This is what we need to achieve in Baltics. The potential of train cycling is enormous, much greater than cycling or rail transport alone. Train cycling challenges private cars in terms of speed, flexibility and travel comfort. We need in Baltics: - Proper bike parking at stations, so that you can trust that your own (electric) bike will be there when you return from the trip - More train services and more stoppages - Station bike or city bike services that integrate with the train ticket - Probably separate company to organize and combine these things

The latest paternalistic urban fad is to impose steep “congestion taxes” on commuters, limit parking, replace road lanes with bicycle lanes and turn large sections of cities into pedestrian-only zones. Read Steven Greenhut's latest:

It’s critical that city leaders and decision makers understand that sacrificing a few parking spaces for increased safety and multi-modality can greatly benefit surrounding businesses. Especially when attention is given to providing quality urban design and streetscaping. Drawing more activity, helping to slow traffic, encouraging comfort and a tendency to linger, and providing a greater sense of place; all can help boost activity in an area and the surrounding shops.

“Consider this: Should municipalities continue limiting RFP requirements to the number of citations issued in a single city?
