It’s commonly understood that construction is a major contributor to greenhouse gases and climate change, which has driven some incredible developments when it comes to tech solutions and sustainable building materials. However, a very simple and important aspect of making more sustainable decisions is the use of labels. This article highlights the benefits of Declare Labels that are like food labels in that they provide transparency for buyers to help minimise health and environmental risks. #sustainability #labels #construction

🏡 Sustainable living pioneers and Energy Oasis partners, EcoCocon are finally receiving the attention they deserve in the UK! 🦾 EcoCocon is set to open a new highly automated factory in Slovakia, where straw is locally sourced, stuffed into panels, and then shipped worldwide, including customers in the UK. ♻️ The future looks promising as the UK produces approximately nine million tonnes of straw annually, enough to build over 400,000 three-bedroom detached houses insulated with straw. The use of straw not only leverages a renewable resource but also aids in carbon sequestration, absorbing around 1.5 kilograms of CO2 for every kilogram used 🌱 Together with Barbara Jones, we champion a community-centric approach to Net Zero, offering buildings that are eco-friendly, efficient, and affordable. 💚 We'd love to hear your thoughts on this exciting development! How do you envision the future of sustainable living? Share your ideas in the comments and spread the word about the importance of eco-conscious living. Together, we can build a greener future! https://lnkd.in/e9_kQks9 #SustainableHousing #circulareconomy #housingtrends #UKEnergy

Happy #WorldEnvironmentDay from MMT! 🌍 Did you know that buildings are responsible for nearly 40% of global carbon dioxide emissions? Fortunately, there's a #sustainable shift happening in the construction industry, with mass timber leading the charge towards #EcoFriendlyConstruction! Celebrate World Environment Day with mass timber! Here’s how it makes a difference: 🏢 Reduce Your Building's Carbon Footprint: Using locally sourced wood in mass timber construction significantly reduces transportation emissions, leading to cleaner air for everyone. 🌲 Support Sustainable Forestry: As the demand for mass timber grows, so does the emphasis on responsible forest management, ensuring forests thrive for generations to come. ⚡ Enhance Energy Efficiency: Mass timber buildings often have superior insulation properties, reducing the need for heating and cooling, and cutting down energy consumption. Join us in embracing a greener future with mass timber and make a positive impact on our planet! 🌳💚 Want to learn more? Construction (and even demolition!) requires an abundance of resources and creates massive amounts of waste. Some of that waste is also toxic, such as that from asbestos. Current practices for constructing buildings and handling waste from demolition aren’t sustainable. #Construction #EcoFriendly #Environment #GreenBuilding #SustainableMaterials

The building sector is one of the most important areas of activity in all countries worldwide. This industry is essential to a country as it provides a high level of employment and contributes greatly to the economy of a country, besides providing a decent roof to people with water and sanitary facilities. However, today more than ever, with the climate change and the scarcity of resources, there is a need to practice a sustainable development in this sector. Building materials are not the only elements to consider. A green building is one that has a low impact using resources efficiently and being environmentally responsible during its full life span. Sustainable building practices also include taking into account the environment of the structure, the optimal use of natural resources to save energy, e.g. use of systems to cool or warm the house by exploiting hot and cold air streams, the positioning of window panes to optimise natural light inside, recycling of domestic water for use in the garden, installation of photovoltaic panes for autonomous production of electricity… there are so many developments in this area.
