The festive season has wrapped up for another year, with innovation and new flavour combinations a highlight for foodies far and wide. We searched the shelves of the biggest retailers, looking for the highlights of the season. From decadent delights to simple classics, there was something for everyone.   Globally there was numerous nods to the renaissance of French cooking that we can expect to see more of in 2024, in the form of Beef Fillet Chateaubriand with truffle and herb butter and bordelaise jus, and deluxe mini croque monsieur canapés. French faire also offers the decadence and deliciousness that consumers are prepared to ‘splurge’ on.   Bao buns seem to be this year’s Christmas nibble with a selection of retailers in the UK dressing them up and filling them with warm and zesty festive fillings. As consumers increasingly look toward their food to transport them around the world in 2024/25, we predict that we will see more cuisine fusions like these as a means of bringing new flavours and dishes into consumers’ homes.   In Australia, meringues heroing the Australian native botanical, Lemon Myrtle, adds a fresh flavour to this Aussie favourite dessert. During uncertain times consumers look to the familiar, and these meringues deliver on that, with an additional twist of deliciousness.   These festive delights are just a nod to some of the trends that we can expect to see growing over 2024/25. #festiveflavours #langdonpantry #trends
