Juneteenth, officially Juneteenth National Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States. It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery. The holiday's name is a portmanteau of the words "June" and "nineteenth", as it was on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas at the end of the American Civil War. Happy Juneteenth from LETS GO Boys and Girls! This culturally historic holiday marks the official emancipation of slaves following the American Civil War. Although the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 declared all American slaves as free, the doctrine was unable to be enforced in Confederate territories. On June 19th, 1865, Union soldiers marched into Galveston Bay, Texas, and decreed the freeing of the state’s slaves. The holiday became known as "Juneteenth" among the newly freed Texans, and over time has become a celebration of independence, solidarity, and empowerment for African-Americans. Today, take some time to learn about our country’s history, look back on how far we have come, and consider how we, as a collective, can continue to make a difference. #Juneteenth2024

John Adams (1735-1826), was the 2nd President of the United States and the first President to live in the White House. He had also served as Vice-President for eight years under George Washington. The Library of Congress and the Department of the Navy were established under his presidency. He was a member of Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He is distinguished for having personally urged Thomas Jefferson to write the Declaration of Independence, as well as having recommended George Washington as Commander-In-Chief of the Continental Army. He was the main author of the Constitution of Massachusetts in 1780. On June 28, 1813, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson, he wrote: The general principles, on which the Fathers achieved independence, were the only Principles in which that the beautiful Assembly of young Gentlemen could Unite…And what were these general Principles? I answer, the general Principles of Christianity, in which all sects were United: and the general Principles of English and American Liberty, in which all those young Men United, and which had United all parties in America, in Majorities sufficient to assert and maintain her Independence. Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane system.

White supremacism is stronger than ever in America. A black man with his hands up was pulled over and assaulted with a dog in front of his child and all over ‘a license plate tag light being too dim’. As college students, faculty, and anyone supporting the Palestinians as they are being ethnically cleansed by their brutal military occupier, America is getting closer and closer to ‘The Threshold of Violence’. Don’t know what that is? The military does. It’s the point at which peaceful protest is abandoned due to its futility in lieu of a more radical form of resistance. Power is not surrendered voluntarily. Rulers and dictators don’t open their domination up to ‘elections’ which is why the upcoming Selection season is particularly impotent and sterile. Freedom doesn’t come through the military forces of a global economic regime. ‘Thank you for your service’ is a nonsensical slogan employed to further lead you to invest in this charade. You are an indentured servant with no choice. No power. No freedom.

THE PERSPECTIVE OF REBELLION AND STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE The Patriot forces during the American Revolution were considered rebels by the British monarchy, as they were seen as defiant and opposing the government's policies. On the American side, Patriots were hailed as liberation heroes, fighting against the injustice of British policies and colonial oppression that restricted human rights. Eventually, after the sustained efforts of the American Revolution, America was able to declare its independence with the support of the 13 colonies that resisted British rule. Sounds are familiar? On July 4, 1776 our nation was conceived, with the Declaration of Independence, the classic statement being: “We hold these truths to be self-evident , that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. This did not ring true for persons of African descent kidnapped and enslaved and brought to the shores of America. They were not considered people, they were considered less than. Only three fifths of a person. It was not until January 1, 1863, using his war powers as President, Abraham Lincoln signed the “Emancipation Proclamation”, providing that ALL persons held as slaves within any state or designated part of a state “shall be then, thenceforward, and forever FREE,” but it would not be until June 19, 1865 two and a half years after the Proclamation with the arrival of Major General Gordon Granger’s regiment in Galveston, Texas the forces of the Union were strong enough to influence to overcome the last of the resistance. He announced both the end of the Civil War and slavery. He read “The people of Texas are are informed that in, accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, slaves are free. This would end in jubilation and celebration from the now free men, women, and children. This day celebrated for 155 years is known as the “Juneteenth” as slavery fell in the last state in America two and half years after the proclamation. #juneteenth #happyjuneteenth #freedomday
