1moWhen I visited Turkey, I was impressed by how excellent their infrastructure is for a developing nation. I was also struck by how they still hold, in some ways, the title of "Gateway to the East," as many companies from Arab countries (due to cultural ties) and former Soviet countries (due to geographic constraints) trade with Europe via Turkey. This, combined with a young and well-educated workforce, lower operating costs—including labor and starting salaries compared to some other developed countries—and government incentives for foreign investment like tax breaks and simplified procedures, makes it a prime location for companies or professionals looking to expand their business to Central Asia or the Middle East. But of course, for achieving the objective of opening a company branch in Turkey, learning Turkish is a plus.
