Is this an original monument? #landsurveying101 The purpose of any boundary survey is to establish or reestablish a property limit. Usually this means finding or resetting the original corner when the boundary was first created. So if you find a monument near a corner where you expect then do you hold as the corner? Not always. While it’s great you found a monument, a surveyor still needs to prove that it is in the best evidence of original corner before accepting it. This means monuments aren’t automatically assumed to be the corner- there is still more work to do before you can make this decision. Trees can grow around monuments without moving them if the iron bars are set correctly in solid ground but if the ground is soft monuments will move over time so this one could have been pushed away from the original corner as the roots grew and therefore is not the original monument in the original location. So we have to look for supporting evidence to confirm the monument is fine. If the monument is along a street boundary and the entire streetline was reestablished (as you should be doing anyways) we are close to being able to reasonably determine the monument hasn’t moved if it is still online. Then, maybe, existing records and adjacent monuments can be used to confirm if the monument has moved. What other factors should be considered when determining if a monument is an original? (The nail in this pic was probably set by the field crew directly above the monument as a temporary mark in order to measure the monument since it was too deep and under a root.) #landsurveying #boundarysurveying

What do you think? Is it just great concrete are there reasons why this is lasting the test of time? #concrete #concretelife #concreteconstruction #structuralengineering #readymix #concretepour #constructionsolutions #flatworkexperts #concreteninjaapproved #e5 #e5nanosilica #readymixproducer #nanotechnology
