By the end of 2024, Gen Z will surpass Baby Boomers in workforce numbers, yet their voices are often underrepresented. Estephany Gomez Bautista and Olivia Audsley emphasize the need to recognize Gen Z not just as employees but as catalysts for change, especially in the nonprofit world. This generation, shaped by a rapidly changing political and technological landscape, prioritizes work that aligns with their social justice values. They’re committed to making a difference, not just earning a paycheck. To maximize their impact, Gen Z is encouraged to speak up, get involved in projects, build networks, and advocate for transparency and self-care. Together, these strategies demonstrate how Gen Z is not just participating in the workforce but actively transforming it for the better. I’m no fan of generational labels They’re without scientific basis, they stereotype, and they divide. Others disagree, especially about their utility in workplace settings. A lucrative “generational consulting” industry has to emerged to help employers address the unprecedented challenge of “five generations in the workplace.” (This is impossible unless toddlers are on the payroll. Think about it.) On the fence? Read this thoughtful, evidence-backed exchange between LSE researcher Daniel Jolles and Sheila Callaham, Forbes columnist and director of the non-profit Age Equity Alliance. Jolles argues that generational labels are widespread and can help promote inclusion by highlighting real experiences of age in the workplace. Callaham counters by pointing out that labels are pseudoscientific and foster ageist stereotypes. Both agree that what workers have in common far outweighs their differences—huzzah! Over the weekend in separate cozy queen beds in a luxury hotel a stone’s throw away from Meta Headquarters, a college girlfriend and I caught up on love, life, work, hubbies, money, and alllll the things in between. Here’s what we talked about and what all of us women badasses need to be talking about more. (1) SYSTEMIC B.S. -If you haven’t met life goals, biz goals, feel goals or it’s taken you wayyyy longer, it’s not your fault -The system is not setup for women to succeed: no government-sponsored daycare, childcare, maternity leave, meal prep help, and the list goes on. (They had all of this post WWII to help women have more babies) (2) GIVE YOURSELF A RAISE -Because care isn’t valued in the U.S. YET and the patriarchy ain’t going to give you a raise, go ahead and give yourself a raise: How much would you price out laundry, cooking, cleaning, baby-sitting, meal prep, grocery shopping, and the list goes on of whatever you handle in your household? -My raise was roughly $90K last year! (3) DRINK + BUY THE F**CKING LATTE -The patronizing voices of the Patriarchy (AKA systemic B.S.) who tell you you need to save the money and not buy the latte are the same assholes who benefit from keeping you small and in scarcity mindset -Want the math on that? Check out Sallie Krawcheck founder of Ellevest’s article on that: https://lnkd.in/gPFYGDZJ <--h/t Ashley Sumner <3 Pic: WITH my college girlfriend, Catrina. She said this morning, "Thank you for feeding my mind, body, soul, and belly." <--We've got to do that WITH each other. We've got to have each other's backs. For Catrina's daughter, my niece, and the next generation of women badasses to come. P.S. Are you a woman coach, healer, entrepreneur? Tired of systemic B.S.? Wanna give yourself a raise? Craving community that is full of buying the f**cking latte energy and teaching you tools to actually grow your business and your life on your own terms in full abundance mindset? We are opening our doors to our Mitsunaga Method™ Retreat June 21-23 in Arizona + 6-month certification program + lifetime coaching container/community. Tuition starting at only $2K. Here’s what people are saying about being on retreat WITH me: “Working WITH Kyla was life-changing. It was amaaaazing.” “What I loved: Quantum leap learning and Quantum leap growth. It was amaaaazing.” “All I have to say is WOW! we experienced breakthroughs that simply talking it out could never touch. It's PO-WER-FUL!” DM me for more.<3

I’ve seen lots of chatter lately asking, “Where are all the workers over 50?” The discussion and commentary seems to frequently centre arounds agism, but this article offers a different perspective suggesting that Gen X just doesn’t whine enough compared to their generational counterparts. As companies prioritize nurturing millennials, Gen X’s contributions are often undervalued. Seems obvious under such circumstances they’ll pursue other opportunities in which their rich experience and transferable skills are appreciated and valued. They don’t whine, they just walk. ❌ 79% of Gen X say they’re forgotten in the workplace, despite comprising over one-third of the workforce and at least half of its managers. ❌ Gen X feel neglected at work and overshadowed by both younger and older colleagues. ❌ This sentiment is amplified by data showing they get promoted by 20% to 30% less often than millennials, despite their leadership skills. Time to rethink how we support all generations at all life stages, or lose valuable workers with much more to offer.

Inspiring a culture of generational inclusion where an attitude of curiosity leads to understanding, mutual, respect, and collaboration. Keynote Speaker, Trainer, Intergenerational Expert and Team Builder. Farm Girl!
Last Sunday, we hosted a brunch to celebrate a “new chapter” beginning for two family members. Our son is beginning a new chapter along with his wife as they look forward to becoming parents for the first time. Our niece and her fiancé are celebrating their upcoming wedding vows and a new chapter of life together. As I planned for this event, I began thinking of the world of work. It is truly a new chapter for organizations that are welcoming young Gen Z professionals. Like every generation before them, Gen Z has their own expectations and perceptions. They bring with them a fresh point of view! It is also a new chapter for organizations that are watching their seasoned Baby Boomers and perhaps older members of Gen X retire or pivot to a new role. Are these organizations prepared for the exit of valuable experience? Have they prepared younger team members to fill these shoes? Has the invaluable knowledge of these senior workers been transferred for future success? Millennials are influencing and leading necessary change as our work becomes increasingly knowledge based and AI dependent. How are we supporting and preparing them? There are always new chapters to look forward to and they are exciting when we have prepared for them. Here are three ways that your organization can prepare for the next chapter: · Create a culture of inclusion where everyone feels a sense of belonging. · Foster intergenerational teambuilding and collaboration. · Prepare your people to lead from every level of your organization. In addition to these 3 key factors, fostering an attitude of curiosity and respect that is modeled by leadership will help you keep your best people and attract the new recruits you need to thrive. As you look forward to new chapters in your business, what are you doing to prepare? #Gen Z #Millennials #Gen X #Babyboomers #Inclusion #Futureofwork
