You have to be pretty rich to own a sports team. But how rich? Steve Ballmer, owner of the LA Clippers, has a net worth of $123 billion. That makes him richest American sports team owner. To put this in perspective, his net worth is 4x higher than Daniel Gilbert (owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers) and 6x higher than David Tepper (owner of the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC). The chart below was created by Sportico based on data from Forbes. #sportsbiz

Robbie Deans has been part of a lot of championship-winning teams — and some that don’t quite make the grade. He’s noticed commonalities across teams that do ok, the ones that might get to the final, and the ones that go the distance. The teams that do ok have the Triple C’s: Character, connections, and competence. If you’ve got those three things, you may not go the distance, but you’ll put yourself close. To go to the next level, Robbie’s looking for Triple B: Belief, belligerence, and bonds. And the Triple A that brings it all to life: attitude, with a collective understanding of what the ‘perfect’ attitude looks like; alignment; and awareness, so you’re clear on where you’re at and where you need to be. --- Like this? In a little bit, the March Madness of the NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball tournaments begins. It is a fantastic time of year, and the only sport where the Cinderella teams win. How? Teamwork, grit, leadership and great coaching, and never quitting. I love this time. Is your team in? Just saw something that was very interesting- 11 seeds have had the best runs in the men's tournament. And no seed lower than a 3 has ever won. Will this be the year? #teamwork #fundamentals

True leadership often involves resilience, creativity, and the ability to adapt to challenges. Strong leaders will find ways to navigate obstacles, inspire their teams, and achieve their goals, even in difficult situations. This mindset is what often sets successful leaders apart—they focus on solutions and persevere until they reach their objectives.

Bill Bellichek was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, Nick Saban was his defensive coordinator. THEY WERE BOTH FIRED ‼️ Bellichek went on to win 6 Super Bowls. Saban went on to win 7 NCAA national championships. Bellichek and Saban were NOT the problem. The Browns front office and culture were the problem. Someones inability to value your gifts, does not diminish your gifts. Go prove them wrong 🔥

100 years ago: Negro Leagues hold their first World Series Hilldale lasted nearly three weeks. It was played in four cities. It was a best-of-nine series that went … 10 games. Everything about the first Negro Leagues World Series -- played 100 years ago -- was ambitious, much like the leagues themselves. The showdown between the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro National League and the Darby, Pa.-based Hilldale Club (informally known as the Darby Daisies) of the Eastern Colored League featured five future Hall of Fame players and marked a major milestone in the evolution of the Negro Leagues and their place in baseball society. “It’s a milestone that most baseball fans, I’m going to venture to guess, know very little, if anything, about,” says Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (NLBM) president Bob Kendrick. “That speaks to the value of a Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, because it’s important that we bring this to the forefront and understand the significance.” At the privately funded NLBM, in the historic 18th & Vine jazz district of Kansas City, visitors this year have been treated to a special exhibit honoring the history of the Monarchs, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of them winning the first of what was then known as the “Colored World Series.” For now, the 100th anniversary of the Monarchs’ triumph is good occasion to reflect on an event that attracted interest among baseball fans of all colors, further legitimizing the Negro Leagues at a vital stage in their development #negroleague #worldseries #negroleagueworldseries #mlb #baseball #100thanniversary #sportshistory #kansascitymo https://lnkd.in/eBrp49Q2

What truly makes a GOAT? For me, it's not just about the numbers, but also about their mental fortitude and compassion for others. One tennis player who embodies these qualities is advocating for more revenue to be shared with lower-ranked players. This is a true show of leadership and sportsmanship. Although the chart may be dated, I look forward to updating it once this GOAT retires, which is estimated to be between 2040 and 2050. #tennis #leadership #sportsmanship

Building amazing performance cultures where self understanding, meaningful connection, and navigating change are the norm | Family, Regen, Mountains, Present, Future, & Stories
"Relationships are more important than wins" 🔥 Another way of saying: the bonds between us in shared endeavour are the stuff of our memories. The core insight of my work as a philosopher and workplace culture designer is that as a leader, you can only truly be intentional about the journeys of self discovery that you create space for in your workplace, and the meaningful connections among your people that you create the conditions for. That is to say: 'how much time, space, energy, and resource will you pour into the bonds between us?' This is a truth that runs through across the high performance world of sport and into the workplace cultures most people spend time in. As always, Professor Adam Nicholls provides insight below with evidence of why we should all be aware of it.
