Larry Pearlman’s Post

What are the Safety Stakes for New Hire Orientation? Ray Prest's article on how to set new hires on the right path for safety and safety culture was featured in OH&S Magazine this month. He discusses how critical the right onboarding is, especially in the first 90 days. I was thrilled to be quoted in the issue. Just like people form opinions in the first 90 seconds of an interview. Imagine what the first 90 days do to a new employee. New hire onboarding is such an under-appreciated program in many companies.

A great article! Thanks Larry Pearlman and Ray Prest. It's such a critical process and with the high levels of turnover post-COVID, it's even more critical now across many high-hazard working environments. If we spent half as much time 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙉𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂 through the humanistic challenges of a new starter in the workplace, (well addressed in this article), as we do the technical information they need to know, (typically conveyed through a barrage of PowerPoint, classroom training and reading) we would likely set people up to be far more successful.
