In India, there's a prevalent misconception that certain roles, especially those in labor, are perceived differently when they come with a white-collar setting – a roof over their heads, air conditioning, well-lit spaces, desks, and cafeterias. In 2024, mid-sized organizations in India, crucial to the nation's economic growth, faced a slight decline in workplace culture, with the Trust Index score dropping by 1% to 83%. Despite this, these organizations continue to be viewed positively by employees. The cultural landscape showed varied trends across industries, with IT and BFSI sectors experiencing decreases in culture scores while NGOs and Manufacturing sectors saw improvements. Key demographics, particularly women, indicated a need for fairer pay, better recognition, and reduced favouritism, which are essential for career growth and retention. Nevertheless, these organizations maintain strong attributes, including high levels of employee pride, ethical management, and a welcoming environment. Notably, 89% of employees perceive their management as competent, feel proud of their workplaces, and believe their organizations contribute positively to society. Amidst a rapidly evolving work landscape , employers in India are increasingly recognising that employee well-being is a critical component of business success and continuity. Belonging continues to be the most powerful measures and engagement predicators in the DE&I space. Diversity , Equity and Inclusion ( DE&I ) interventions are now the top well-being initiative not just in the mind of a CHRO but also CEO’s as well across Corporations. The Interventions offered under DEI include diversity and Inclusion training , accessible office spaces , gender neutral company communications and last but not the least inclusive benefits options.
