When completed, it would be the longest sea bridge in India. The bridge will begin in Sewri, South Mumbai and cross Thane Creek north of Elephant Island and will terminate at Chirle village, near Nhava Sheva. Project Benefits: The MTHL Bridge gives a faster connectivity with proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport, JNPT Port, Mumbai – Pune Expressway and Mumbai – Goa Highway. On Mumbai side, Connectivity with Coastal road is planned through Sewri Worli Elevated Connector project. Project Key Components:- The total length of MTHL Bridge is 21.8 km in which length on sea is 16.50 km and on land portion is 5.5 km. The sea link will contain a 6-lane (3+3 lane) highway+1 emergency lane on both side. There are 7 nos of OSD (Orthotropic steel Deck) spans of length 90m to 180m which are used on bridge first time in India. There are Interchanges, at Sewri in Mumbai, Shivaji-Nagar and SH-54 in Jasai and at Chirle on NH-348. The Project is being implemented using many unique products and state-of-the-art construction methods. 100 % work of erection of Orthotropic Steel Deck (OSD) is completed. 100 % work of concrete superstructure spans is completed. Project Cost and Completion Details: Administrative approval estimate value : Rs. 17843 Crore. MMRDA appointed M/s AECOM Asia Company Ltd. - PADECO Co. Ltd. - Dar Al-Handasah - TY Lin International consortium as General Consultant for the MTHL Project in December 2016. The project will be implemented in 3 packages for civil works and 1 package for Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Automated Toll Collection system and electrical works, etc. Package-1- M/s L&T Ltd-IHI Infrastructure Systems Ltd. Consortium (Rs. 7637 Cr.), Package-2- M/s DAEWOO Engineering & Construction Company Ltd. - Tata Projects Ltd. JV (Rs. 5612 Cr.) Package-3 - M/s L&T Ltd (Rs.1013) have been appointed as contractors for MTHL project respectively. M/s. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has scrapped the requirement for developing wayside amenities along new highways and expressways by road contractors and concessionaires. Instead, NHAI will seek separate bids from companies for developing such amenities The step is aimed at attracting global expertise for creating wayside amenities WSAs) in the country with a stronger focus on design and product innovations to boost return on investment while scaling up the experience of highway users.Under the existing provision, a highway contractor or concessionaire is responsible for developing WSAs, placing an additional responsibility on contractors to build run and maintain such facilities. In a circular dated June 11, NHAI has issued guidelines for descoping of construction of wayside amenities from the scope of road contractor. It outlined the methodology for withdrawal of construction work of wayside amenities in various modes of civil civil works under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) or hybrid annuity mode (HAM) and build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode. H.G. Infra Engineering said that it has received the letter of award from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for an Andhra Pradesh-based project worth Rs 862.11 crore. The project involves construction of a 4-lane highway with paved shoulders from the Tamil Nadu/Andhra Pradesh border to Puttur and a 6-lane highway with paved shoulders from Mallavaram to Renigunta in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The hybrid annuity mode (HAM) is to be executed under NH(O),Chennai Tirupati Package-II, with a completion period of 24 months. The estimated cost reportedly is Rs 943.99 crore, and HG Infra’s bid cost is Rs 862.11 crore. H.G Infra Engineering is engaged in the business of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), maintenance of roads, bridges, flyovers and other infrastructure contract works. The company reported 22.03% fall in consolidated net profit to Rs 102.05 crore despite of 15.15% rise in revenue from operations to Rs 1,364.53 crore in Q3 FY24 over Q3 FY23. The scrip rose 0.53% to currently trade at Rs 910.15 on the BSE. Oriental Structural Engineers Pvt. Ltd. (OSE) was today declared as the lowest bidder to construct and maintain 9.7 km Package EPC-05 of the 132.87 km Chennai Peripheral Ring Road project by Tamil Nadu Road Development Company (TNRDC). This 6 lane access controlled expressway with 4 service lanes will form Chennai’s 4th ring road and connect Ennore Port with NH16 (old NH5) at Thatchur. Package EPC-05 lies within 30.10 km Section III which connects Thiruvallur Bypass with Sriperumbudur on National Highway 48 (Old NH-4). Section III’s construction will be financed by Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) through a USD 378 million loan and is divided into 3 EPC packages: EPC-03, EPC-04 and EPC-05. Within those, EPC-05 is the shortest and will connect Sengadu (chainage 68+200) to Sriperumbudur (chainage: 77+900). TNRDC had invited bids for this package in November 2023 with a 36 month construction deadline. It’s estimate remains unconfirmed to me but might be Rs. 780 crore. Technical bids were opened in January 2024 to reveal 3 bidders. Among those, the bid submitted by Ramalingam Construction Company Pvt. Ltd. (RCC) was found non-compliant to the tender’s conditions and was disqualified.
