Curious about the market outlook for 2024? It's positive! The facts: the U.S. legal market added 4,500 jobs in December and 3,700 jobs in November. There is optimism about the deal market with interest rates stabilizing and an uptick in activity in the fourth quarter. And many Am Law 100 law firms have a renewed focus on hiring M&A partners. My pipeline is proof in point. For the first time since 2022, over half the candidates I have actively interviewing this month are focused on transactional practices, including EC/VC, technology transactions, real estate and M&A. Transactional folks, if you've been waiting on the sidelines for the market to improve before entering the lateral market, now is a good time to consider your options. Wishing the best of luck to my candidate interviewing today for an *UNPOSTED* and opportunistic role with a top AmLaw firm in #CharlotteNC (not that they need it). This interview is exciting for two reasons: - Opportunistic hiring is starting to come back, even within AmLaw firms, for highly qualified candidates. This shift signals market strength we haven't seen in some time. More lateral opportunities, in diversity and volume, are likely on the horizon for candidates. Moreover, it indicates that clients are becoming less conservative in their hiring plans, which is a positive sign for the financial market. - This marks my first candidate interview in nearly 2 years! In 2022, I took on a managerial role focused on hiring, teaching, and managing teams of recruiters. While I adore my teams and my role as their biggest supporter, I have missed the hands-on experience of running my own desk. I am thrilled to be back in the saddle and actively engaged with candidates, clients, and the market once again!
