Communication breakdowns are the leading cause of sentinel events in #hospitals, so it’s no surprise that of the hundreds of challenges facing today’s #healthcare institutions, the leadership team at Carilion Giles Community Hospital (part of the Carilion Clinic hospital network) chose to prioritize improving handoff communications in their efforts to reduce patient harm. We've had the pleasure of helping nurses in CGCH’s ED and Med-Surg units implement a blueprint for structured handoff communication that allows transitions of care to occur reliably and uniformly while capturing often-missed patient information. Their efforts paid off, and since adopting the I-PASS methodology, they’ve seen significant results, including: 💬 68% reduction in communication failure-related #safety events 🕓 Decreased average length of stay 🚨 90% fewer reported rates of harm Read the full case study to learn more about how I-PASS stops #communication breakdowns and improves patient safety 👉 https://hubs.la/Q01Yt0jN0

Why Internal Medicine? In this video, Joseph, an RN on H81, talks about the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients and patient needs, the close collaboration of teams, and the "great coworkers". There's good conversation and great teamwork, on the unit and during team outings. That's why, after three years on H81, he does not see himself leaving any time soon. Curious about H81 and how we can help you get in touch with the reason you got into nursing? Let's talk. #ClevelandClinic

Do you know the HIDDEN COSTS of Vascular Access Solutions? Service delays create significant, additional hidden costs that are fractured across your organization and may be hard to quantify. For example, even a 1-day delay in treatment creates unneeded expenses: 👉 Additional internal medical care while waiting for vascular access 👉 Avoidable complications & costs due to treatment Delay Cascades 👉 Transportation expenses (internally or externally) 👉 Catheter kits spoilage & expiration 👉 Patient and family dissatisfaction 👉 Reputation and brand damage Vascular Wellness has extensive geographic and redundant coverage of skilled and certified nurse employees helping to ensure timely service and avoiding treatment delays. Unlike all other bedside options, our nurses provide advanced central lines at the bedside, reducing the need for transportation internally to IR/OR or externally to a hospital. ASRJS Publishers' International Journal of Nursing & Healthcare has a journal guidelines page, which mentions its #OpenAccess policy - actually it does not, as the page is blank. #FJN_P00004 #FJN_Evidence What they fail to mention are the Article Processing Charges (#APC) …. And we can't find the amount of these charges anywhere else on their web site. In a recent Webinar organized by World Hospital at Home Congress - WHAHC "Virtual Care, a Reality not a Dream! Cambridge University Hospital Virtual Ward Implementation Model," Gemma Czech, lead clinical nurse for Virtual Wards, and Andrew Bailey, Virtual Ward Operations Manager at Cambridge University Hospital, shared their experiences pioneering Cambridge University Hospital's Virtual Ward implementation. Achieving 97% satisfaction rates, the virtual ward at Cambridge University Hospital has exceeded expectations, demonstrating tangible benefits such as a substantial reduction in the cost of bed days, enhanced recovery outcomes, and a notable decrease in patient deconditioning. With the virtual ward evolving into an integral part of routine patient care at Cambridge University Hospital, the team plans to expand to 120 beds in the next financial year and explore virtual care for children's services. Watch this interesting discussion to discover how the virtual ward model aligns with NHS England's goals and sets a new standard for patient-centric, home-based care. https://ow.ly/bcrv50RbiQE #Masimo #MasimoSafetyNet #VirtualWards #MasimoInnovates #Remotemonitoring
