At the beginning of November Dr. Michael Ebenhoch took over the role Senior Vice President Steering Wheel Systems at ZF Passive Safety Systems. Ebenhoch explains that the steering wheel is one of the earliest Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and will remain an important part of vehicles in the future. Further developments will enhance analogue and digital interactions for future mobility, particularly as semi-automated driving becomes more prevalent. He underlines that safety will continue to be one of the primary functions of a steering wheel system. "New inflator and airbag designs, along with new degrees of design freedom, will enable new levels of driver safety in an integrated occupant safety system," concludes Ebenhoch.
