As the industry progresses towards Cradle to Grave marking, it's essential to avoid the common pitfall of using off-the-shelf Marking Lasers for post-process resistant Laser Marks. This week alone, I encountered 3 customers who had made this error. These lasers may be slow, PC-based, and lack industrial quality, failing to deliver the marks required, despite what the sales representatives claim. If you require marks that can withstand heat treatment, Ecoat, powder coat, shot-blasting, or need to be completed in under 1 second, always demand proof. Visit the company's lab to witness the performance firsthand, and request customer references for validation. Here's a prime example of effective marking: a seating rail marked in just 0.9 seconds, subsequently coated and graded C or better. How small can a motorized XY stage be designed while still providing a large measuring range? We addressed this query by developing an exceptionally compact OEM version of an XY stage. The square base is a mere 280 mm in width, making it smaller than the height of an A4 sheet of paper. Despite its compact size, this stage enables an impressive measuring range of 205 x 205 mm. Set up as a portal solution, see #stereotypes, this provides great freedom for the inspection area: for automated 3D surface measurement, surface inspection or AFM measurement. Compression molding microstructures offers a lot of benefits, especially when it comes to maximizing the functional surface area that our customers care about! Unlike injection molding, Edge's molding technology enables us to do very high aspect ratio geometry for micron-scale features.
