As many of you know I do not do employee benefits but this article stopped me in my tracks. "Forty-seven percent of those ages 18 to 49 said they were “cost secure,” i.e. had no recent problems affording care or medicine." Which means 53% of homes were cost insecure when it come to affording healthcare in America. I recently had to go to the ER with the NHS in London with my son after a biking accident. This was my first experience with healthcare abroad. I was blown away that the ambulance, the immediate care was all free even though I was traveling. As I am asking question around costs the workers looked at me as if I were from the moon. They found it odd the questions I was asking and or the costs in the United States. If the biking accident for my son was to occur here I have no doubt my bill would have been significant. Is this statistic shocking to as many of you as it is to me? Thankfully my son is okay and had a minor sprain to his right knee. But my experience with the NHS was nothing like what I have heard in the media, and has left me wondering why are Americans more united in pushing for reforms to control costs in our own systems. Brokers advocate for such changes but it takes an army speaking up about such matters for real change to occur. https://lnkd.in/gi-cQ9ZM.
