Working alongside Energetics and UKPS, Rendesco can provide heat network connections, both ambient heat networks and centralised ground source heat networks, to create a multi utility connection offer to developers that is unrivaled in the market. More than ten homes on a single street in the borough of Great Yarmouth have received sustainable upgrades thanks to the government’s Home Upgrade Grant 🏡 Residents living in homes built before 1990 on Fallowfield in the village of Hemsby are now benefitting from sustainable upgrades. Eleven homes on the street have been given a sustainable retrofit via the installation of air source heat pumps, solar PV and top-up loft insulation. Upgrades were implemented via Great Yarmouth Borough Council and funded through the government’s Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2. 📄 CASE STUDY | DISTRICT HEAT NETWORK 📄 Client - Falkirk Council  Read how we successfully installed a comprehensive District Heat Network to enhance heat generation in nine tower blocks, three local schools, and a public business centre.  In this contract, Falkirk Council's goal was to generate greater heat circulation in their properties, reduce carbon emissions, and develop the most affordable heating systems to support tenants in the tower blocks. To achieve this, Easy Heat Systems installed new heating systems in three tower blocks, hydraulic separation heating substations in all nine tower blocks, and private wire installations to transfer electricity from the existing Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system to all buildings. We’re proud to announce the completion of a retrofit project completed in partnership with North Kesteven District Council🏡 Our teams have upgraded 205 council-owned bungalows in Lincolnshire with solar panels, heat pumps, and enhanced insulation. Delighted the new Midlothian Energy Centre – a joint venture between the council and Vattenfall Ltd – is now officially open. The energy centre will take heat from the energy-from-waste facility (operated by FCC) next door in Millerhill and distribute it to the new town of Shawfair, other nearby housing developments, and beyond. Council Leader Councillor Kelly Parry and Chief Executive Grace Vickers helped cut the ribbon marking a key milestone in this low carbon heating project. In this first phase, the heat network is expected to save over 2,500 tonnes of CO2 per year, the equivalent of taking 1,200 cars off the road. Working in collaboration with the Sydney Street and District Residents' Association, Cagni Williams Associates (Architects and Urban Designers) and our partners Kensa Utilities (Ambient Loop Network Installation and Funding), Genius Energy Lab is thrilled to announce that we have just completed a feasibility study for a community-based ground source heat pump network in Chelsea. This pioneering initiative aims to bring carbon-free heating and cooling to most residents of Sydney Street and the dense surrounding urban environment, setting a new standard for sustainable urban living in the UK. “We are getting more and more enquiries for community-based schemes leveraging various grants. With the infrastructure lasting over 100 years once installed, with very little maintenance requirements, it’s a win for residents and future generations. Ground Source Heat Pumps (twice as efficient as Air Source Heat Pumps) are installed inside the property and are super quiet and efficient. Together with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, the Centre for a Low Carbon Built Environment (CLCBE) and Welsh School of Architecture, Cardiff University (WSA), we are hosting an 'Open House Retrofit' in Margam which has been funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The #HomesAsPowerStations (HAPS) 'Open House retrofit' is a 1930’s three-bedroom semi-detached home and has been retrofitted using a whole house energy systems approach combining renewable energy supply, storage and demand reduction solutions. The house has benefitted from increased insulation, repairs that reduce air leakage, an air-source heat pump, solar PV panels and battery storage. These measures will provide our future tenants with a low carbon home that has lower energy bills and improved comfort. The house will be open on select days throughout February and March 2025 where there will be an opportunity to learn more about the whole house energy system approach, the practical and impactful solutions we have created practical and impactful solutions with, and for, a wide range of stakeholders to inspire change at all scales. With as many as 68% of local authorities not confident that they will hit their Net Zero targets, it’s good to hear that Worthing Borough Council has launched its own decarbonisation project – The Worthing Heat Network. The aim is to offer climate-friendly heating to every home building in the town by 2050. How? By supplying heat via underground pipes carrying hot water. Buildings can reduce their reliance on fossil fuels for heating and hot water and reduce heating emissions by around 90%. RenewEV is delighted to be providing an Opportunity Assessment for the refurbishment of Bayston Hill Community Bowling Green Pavilion and a Community Energy feasibility assessment for potential surplus renewable energy generated. Loved by locals, this popular and well used space offers something for everyone with the green open spaces and recreation facilities. Part of the Lythwood Sports Complex, this site is considered to be a vital community hub for the area, and our studies have been careful to consider this and the potential for even greater developments to benefit the many.      Our primary goal is to seek low-carbon and energy efficient solutions, and we are doing this with a "fabric first" approach in reviewing the existing site, buildings and plans for a large extension. The assessment includes thermal imaging analysis and modelling, space heating, solar photovoltaics, battery storage systems and electric vehicle charging points.      Evaluation of potential planning constraints, project management and community consultation also form part of the feasibility report.  Part of our work will investigate the potential of a community owned energy cooperative or an energy local scheme and therefore community engagement with local businesses and residents will be critical to gauge public appetite and inform pricing sensitivity. Ultimately we will determine whether community ownership is appealing.     From the ground up, communities in the UK are now having these discussions and considering if taking control of their own community energy is right for them. We would love to talk to other areas and communities interested in exploring this!
