- In an ideal world, the PGA Tour should be 20-22 tournaments from January to August. I know that’s not every week. Then have some tournaments go to the Korn Ferry Tour just throwing random names – (Cognizant), a Valero, a Dominican, those are Korn Ferry majors, you win one of those and you get promoted (in-season). It’s just an idea of having it where two signature events in a row, week off, three on, whatever it needs to be to where the top guys don’t have to play every week; they are still playing together but it’s 120 (man fields). If you get your card through Korn Ferry, it’s top 20 or top 25, you’re in those. We all think that’s the ideal situation, whether or not it’ll get there, who knows, it’s nowhere close.” - Read "Reduced fields? Relegation? In-season promotion? Korn Ferry Tour ‘majors’? Everything on the table in PGA Tour overhaul" on SmartNews: https://lnkd.in/eg7Qapnm

Would a company employee be expected to invest part of their hard earned dollars to grow the company's business? NO Why are Club Golf Professionals expected to invest part of their hard earned dollars to grow the game of golf? Golf course Superintendents don't do it. Great education programs. Club Managers don't do it. Great education programs. Club Controllers don't do it. Great education programs. Club Membership Directors don't do it. Great education programs. Why are Club Golf Professionals expected to do it? Is it because the PGA of America has so much money and such a giant bureaucracy that it MUST feed the bureaucrats? Why not give the extra money to PGA of America Members? Let them use it to grow the game or improve their lifestyle. Let the PGA of America Member decide how to spend his/her money.....not PGA of America bureaucrats and power hungry PGA of America officials and PGA of America administrators.

Its Hokey Cokey time in Scotland – with amateur golf’s governing body putting a workforce back in the field, with a return to boots on the ground to help our clubs. Golf is by no means the only industry to tinker with a field force. Large companies often move towards a regional sales force, then revert to centralisation, before ultimately heading back out in to the field again. So hats off to the new regime, and Andrew Baptie at Scottish Golf, for securing the support for a team of 5 Regional Development Officers. But how will success be judged this time ? And more importantly, what exactly do clubs want from this investment ? Clubs have a crucial role to play in identifying the gaps they have in their skillsets, and reaching out for help from their National Governing Body. Its not easy managing a region of over 100 golf clubs, and we have to be realistic about how much time each Development Manager can spend with each club, but lets not waste this opportunity of the support that is clearly out there. And what about the people who will fill these roles ? There will be some experienced Club Managers out there looking for a new challenge, and I can tell you that moving from the “micro” of club operations to the “macro” of overseeing a region of clubs of varying sizes, is a role I can thoroughly recommend. This is a perfect opportunity to let other clubs benefit from your time behind the wheel, be part of a much larger team and a truly meaningful movement designed specifically to help golf, and our Scottish golf clubs.
