I learned it's possible to unlock new layers of self-awareness to enhance our connections in life and work. 🤔 You may have heard of The Enneagram. Maybe you've even pinned down your "type" number. Ok, then what? Recently on #TheFuriousCurious #podcast, I talked insights and actions on this fascinating topic with certified Enneagram Coach, Emily Phillippi from Flourish Coaching. Emily meticulously dissects the nine types, guides us through understanding our personalities, and points to the different ways we engage the world. Plus, she shares insights on integrating this knowledge into our connections with others. 🎧 Listen anywhere: wavve.link/FC/episodes #Enneagram #SelfDiscovery #PersonalGrowth #Relationships #FlourishCoaching #StayCurious

Cheat Meal. I really dislike this term. Why do I have to feel like I’m cheating when I eat something? What’s wrong with having some discretionary food and just being OK with it? Many of us grew up hearing the term ‘Cheat Meal’, particularly if you’re in the health and fitness industry. It implies "be strict with your healthy food and then you can cheat with food". Just so that you can try to stay on track with your health goals. But what if I told you that there is a very real visceral response to words like ‘cheat’ versus words like ‘treat’? Which term feels better to you when you say it aloud? Referring to a discretionary food as a ‘cheat meal’ has largely contributed to using foods for binges. And after having already restricted food intake for a period, this becomes an area of concern. I like the idea of enjoying discretionary foods. It helps clients avoid binge eating. We forget that so much of nutrition is also psychological. I had a bit of fun with this topic on the Getting Mental Podcast with Luke Raynham.
