Are You a Safe Person for Racialized People? In our journey to create inclusive and equitable spaces, it’s crucial to reflect on our own behaviors and attitudes. A significant part of this is ensuring we are safe individuals for racialized people to confide in, especially after they experience racism. I’ve created a checklist questionnaire designed to help us all reflect on how we can better support those around us. It covers areas such as: • Awareness and Understanding of racism’s various forms. • Listening and Validation without judgment or dismissal. • Empathy and Support that prioritizes the individual’s needs. • Actions and Advocacy to actively combat racism. Let’s commit to being better allies and support systems. By understanding our own biases and actively working to overcome them, we can contribute to a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. To create a culture of inclusiveness, we all must look at and acknowledge our biases, so we can do something about the ones that are unfair or cause harm to others. During #BlackHistoryMonth, here are some tips on talking to children about racial bias: https://lnkd.in/e9SjnYS #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistory #RacialBias #TalkingAboutRacialBias

You might have noticed over the last year that we are collecting a little more Equality, Diversity and Inclusion data than before. We’ll always ask for this when you move into one of our homes and sometimes ask to check this with you when you call us. We aren’t being nosey 😆, it helps us understand our customers and identify issues, gaps in services and biases that can unknowingly happen. For example, we might discover that 5% of our customers speak a different language and could then introduce that language as a translate option on our website. This improvement is part of our pledge to the Tai Pawb #DeedsNotWords commitment, doing our part in tackling racism and racial inequality. #Acheivements #EqualityDiversityInclusion #AccessAllAreas

Speaker, Author of “Something Bigger Than Ourselves | Essays on the Complexities of Race in America”
Most Americans focus on the form of racism that involves a single individual misbehaving. Yes, actions by a person in the moment is unacceptable. But what’s worse are the systematic racist actions carried out (or ignored) at the institutional level. #Diversity #DiversityAndInclusion #Inclusion #RacialEquity #AntiRacism

LGBTIQA+ Disability Advocate Community Project Development + Management Media + Public Relations Consultant Building Authentic, Inclusive, Collaborative Community
Is becoming so tired of community organizations that prioritize white heteronormative and neuro typical narratives. Especially behind closed doors via their exclusionary recruitment processes, that deny representation to intersectional identities. Isn't it time to offer a seat at the table to authentically marginalized communities? Until organizations actively employ and embed the lived experience of disadvantaged, intersectional minorities, their programs and associated media represention are simply empty virtue signalling. There is no real authenticity or benefit to those who need the most assistance when we prioritize the voices of the privileged. Aim to do better 🙏 #DiversityAndInclusion #AuthenticDiversity #WorkplaceInclusion #OrganisationalDiversity
