✍ Seeking the Truth: The Life of Leo Tolstoy LeoTolstoy has been called the world’s greatest writer, and “War and Peace” the world’s greatest novel. He wanted to capture life in all its complexity. As a master of psychological description, Tolstoy expanded the definition of the novel with characters so realistic, that readers never forget them. If you have the chance to view the documentary UNDIVIDE US Movie by Tony Woodlief and Ben Klutsey, I highly recommend it. I attended a screening at @Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Wauwatosa led by their youth pastor, Erik Peterson. After the screening, there was a large group Q&A followed by facilitated small group conversations. In the #graphicrecording below, words in white are direct quotes from the film, and words in blue are from the conversations. My key takeaway was that, in the words of Maya Angelou, "We are more alike than we are unlike", and we can approach conversations by recognizing each other's humanity in order to understand another's perspective instead of trying to change their mind.
