BCIS assesses how the construction industry is evolving to account for carbon in key processes and how these impact the tried and tested construction triangle.
Time, cost and quality – these three essential components have formed the foundation of construction projects for a long time, but it’s clear that this model is changing as carbon is increasingly considered in the process. Although most of us agree this is a welcome and necessary change, it’s important to factor in the impact of measuring and reporting on carbon. In this article, we explore the challenges the industry needs to address as the tried and tested foundation of construction evolves. Find out more ⬇️

We are looking forward to seeing you along with presenter, Donn C Thompson AIA LEED AP on February 13th at the Midland Hills Country Club in Roseville, Minnesota for our next in-person Breakfast Meeting! REGISTER: https://lnkd.in/gJxrwx_Y With the construction sector experiencing a resurgence in growth, the impact building materials have on the environment will continue to increase. Products used for construction have an environmental impact from material extraction through end-of-life. While construction generates up to 15% of global gross domestic product, it is also responsible for one-third of the total energy use and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, half of all resources extracted from the earth, and 25 percent of non-industrial waste generated each year. This means architects, engineers, contractors, and owners all have the responsibility to provide long term solutions to minimize the environmental impact of the structures the design, build, and occupy. This presentation is intended to provide objective and transparent information to better inform material decisions for projects of all types and sizes.

As designers and engineers of buildings, the architecture, engineering and construction industry (AEC) has an outsize role to play in ensuring the success of sustainable development. At HH Angus, we believe that decarbonizing the built environment is an area where we can make significant contributions, both from the perspective of the buildings’ energy efficiency as well as the energy source that the buildings use for heating and cooling. On our latest episode of ‘Expanding the Possible’, Nick Stark, Philip Schuyler and Mike Hassaballa of HH Angus discuss sustainable engineering and the decarbonization of the built environment. Click the link below for a link to the podcast and to learn how engineers design buildings and energy systems that contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. https://lnkd.in/gMERgnHF #hhangus #decarbonization #GHG #GaCBC #sustainableengineering #builtenvironment #engineering
