Here’s what you get: →More time and support to achieve your goals →Clear vision that everyone in the organization is excited about →Detailed plan document with action steps and a timeline Oh, and most importantly, follow-up support for the CEO to help keep her on track and handle any roadblocks that may pop up. Hey nonprofiteers and philanthrapoids, I’m working on a secret project and I’m looking for a specific type of organization to participate and yours might be a fit: Mission of this project: · I want to help 25 large and small nonprofits and foundations completely re-imagine how strategic planning happens in their organizations. · I want to provide strategic planning support at less than 1/10th of the cost of our current offering so that even small organizations or individual teams can benefit from futurism as a strategic planning tool. · I want to create opportunities for organizations to radically re-imagine how to create a more beautiful and equitable future. Here are the criteria to be a part of this project: · You are ready to refresh your strategic plan for your organization or your team. · Your team is kind, innovative and coachable. · You are willing to do the work to implement the plan and are ready to supercharge your efforts and increase your impact quickly. · You are ready to act fast and know how to navigate your organization’s bureaucracy to get visioning started soon so that 2025 is your most world-changing year yet. If you match that criteria, reply to this post with the word VISION or DM me and I’ll follow up with you. If you know of other organizations that would benefit, share the post.

Services Spotlight: STRATEGIC PLANNING Strategic planning helps organizations map a course toward achieving their mission and goals. At Helix, we help nonprofits with their planning process by facilitating impactful conversations between the board of directors, staff, and other key stakeholders to strategize and guide the organization toward its mission and impact. Best practice is to develop a strategic plan every 3 to 5 years; however, we are seeing movement shortening this to every 1 to 3 years. If your organization is ready to identify strategies and goals to best enable your organization to advance its mission, reach out to Dr. Ivy R. Buchan at ivy@helixllc.org. #strategy #strategicplanning #bestpractice

You finally get Board approval to start strategic planning. But then, you may have gotten a little over enthusiastic when you put together the scope of work. 🔹Are you including too many activities in your nonprofit strategic planning process? This video talks about: 1️⃣ Pacing out the work. Don’t do everything at once. Your team will thank you. 2️⃣ What are the core, essential elements of an effective strategic plan? 3️⃣ Next, what are some of the optional activities you could include in the process and how can you pace them better? There’s a lot more nuance I could add to each of the points in the video but I hit four minutes and didn’t want to go longer. So let me know if you have any questions, concerns or additions! 👇🏻

What does good Board engagement look like? This is a struggle for all of us, including me! I'll share a few tips and tricks the next few weeks. What things are true? Nonprofit Board Members are stressed out about their organization's stability, their meaningful contribution, and the growth and development of the organization. For Board Members, you've got a limited amount of time to make an impact. There is a huge desire to make a difference, there are lots of ideas to consider, and there are lots of factions to manage, especially if you're the Board Chair. You want to balance moving the organization forward, good financial stewardship, and respect for the team that's doing the day-to-day work. But you can't work in a vacuum, certain information needs to be shared, and certain tools need to be put in the toolbox. Without them...it becomes a challenging cycle that feels like either demanding and micromanagement or inaction by staff (who are often overwhelmed) to meet those requests. If you're a Board Member and this sounds familiar to you (like and share!) and follow along the next few weeks as I share a 360 perspective and some potential solutions for dealing with your challenges.

Saturday, May 11, 2024 From: Richard Francis Viktor Hogan —>• Aligning your nonprofit’s mission with strategic goals is essential for long-term success and impact. —>• Here are steps you can take to achieve alignment: — Understand Your Mission and Vision: • Begin by revisiting your nonprofit’s mission statement. Clearly articulate your purpose, values, and the impact you aim to create. Align your strategic goals with this mission. Ensure that every goal contributes directly to fulfilling your organization’s purpose. — Conduct a SWOT Analysis: • Evaluate your nonprofit’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). • Identify internal strengths you can leverage, weaknesses to address, opportunities to seize, and potential threats to mitigate. — Involve Stakeholders: • Engage board members, staff, volunteers, donors, and community members. • Seek their input on strategic priorities, ensuring alignment with your mission. — Set Clear Goals: • Define specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. • Prioritize them based on their impact on your mission. — Allocate Resources Wisely: • Consider financial, human, and technological resources. • Allocate resources to support your strategic goals effectively. — Create an Action Plan: • Develop detailed action steps for each goal. • Assign responsibilities, set deadlines, and track progress. — Monitor and Evaluate: • Regularly review progress toward your goals. • Adjust strategies as needed to stay aligned with your mission. —>• Remember, strategic planning isn’t just about setting goals; it’s about creating a shared vision, building consensus, and ensuring that every action contributes to your nonprofit’s mission. -30-
