Recently I posted an article where Finnair advises they will begin to weigh passengers, voluntarily, to collect data to help the airline better manage flight weights supporting overall efforts for airline safety. I get it, we all want to be safe. And while I joked about should we be doing pre-workouts to make flight weight, the idea of jumping on a scale is intimidating for many. Curious, previous research in this same space has focused on using luggage weight as a primary indicator noting luggage weight differences between women and men as well as luggage weight associated with class of service. I suspect we haven't weighed all the scenarios on this topic. #travelindustry #businesstraveller

Sounds flash but ask the traveling public what they'd really like in 2024 and it would be lower priced tickets, on-time flights, to stop selling tickets on ghost flights, and better access to frequent flyer redemption. New airports and lounges, sure they're nice, but there's other issues that need to be addressed first. Especially for some airlines. Air India leaves passenger luggage at San Fransisco. Take off weight limitations are understood but lack of communication with passengers is not understood. Why is it so difficult for the airlines to understand that sharing this information immediately on arrival or maybe enroute would mitigate many a heart burn. In today's age Air India would have known immediately as to whose luggage has been loaded or left behind. Why do you want the passengers to figure this out only when they don't see the luddage on the baggage belt. This is nothing but lackadiscal attitude on part of airline. 2024 will be the year of many uncertainties but the continued improvement of the flying experience will be one of the (hopeful) many good things we can expect. Travel is still hot in 2024 and with so many people flying, a lot of new investments are being made by airlines and airports to put more comfort into the flying experience but also to increase the overall sustainability of the impact of flying. This recent CNN report gives a great overview of some of the trends for 2024. Have a look here: https://loom.ly/o-n33kw #travel #flying #airplanes #airlines #sustainable #passengerexperience #cnn

Understanding Aviation Slots: ⏳️ What Passengers Need to Know As summer approaches, the skies are set to get busier, and passengers may hear a familiar announcement from the captain: "We've been assigned a slot." But what does this mean, and why does it matter?? Let's study what aviation slots are and why they matter, not only for passengers but also for the hardworking crew striving for on-time performance. Aviation slots are essentially designated times allocated for aircraft to take off or land at an airport. These slots are meticulously managed by airport authorities and air traffic control to ensure the smooth flow of air traffic and prevent congestion in the skies and on the ground. So, why does your flight needing a slot matter to you as a passenger? Well, it can affect your travel plans in a few ways. Firstly, it might lead to a slight delay in departure or arrival. While airports and airlines strive for punctuality, the allocation of slots sometimes means waiting for your turn in the queue of departing or arriving aircraft. Moreover, the allocation of slots can influence the overall efficiency of air travel. Airlines often meticulously plan their schedules to optimize routes and minimize delays. However, when a slot is assigned, it can disrupt these plans, leading to adjustments in flight times or routes. But it's not just passengers who feel the impact of aviation slots. Spare a thought for the crew, whose jobs become even more challenging when faced with slot constraints. For them, ensuring on-time performance isn't just about meeting schedules; it's about navigating a complex web of air traffic regulations and logistical challenges. The pressure to maintain punctuality can be particularly stressful for crew members. They must coordinate with air traffic control, adjust flight plans on the fly, and keep passengers informed—all while ensuring safety remains the top priority. So, the next time you hear the captain 👩✈️👨✈️ mentioning that your flight has been assigned a slot, remember that it's just a part of the intricate dance of air travel. While it might cause a slight delay or inconvenience, rest assured that everyone, from the crew membes, are working hard to get you to your destination safely and efficiently. #AvionExpress #avionexpresscrew #cabincrew #LivingAviation #EngagementCrew #airlineofopportunities #CareerWings #ACMI #AviaSolutionsGroup #Aviator #Aviation #Aviationlndustry Avion Express

I'm a carry-on-only traveler. Overhead bin anxiety is real. As more airlines install larger bins, the vision of never having to gate check is starting to become a reality (but there remain obstacles). I explored why it took so long for the industry to get here in my latest aviation explainer for AFAR.
Airlines Are Finally Adding Enough Overhead Bin Space for All Carry-Ons. What Took So Long?
