Partnering with Hospitals & Health Systems to Find Top Leadership Talent | Recruiter for Director, VP, & C-Level Healthcare Leaders | Founder, Lauren Recruiting Group LLC | Boy Mom 💙
Want to hear a secret to hiring in a competitive labor market? Move FAST. Earlier this year, I supported an organization that needed to make a timely hire. During my outreach process, one candidate stood out right away. “This is an all-star,” I thought. My next thought? “If she’s an all-star — other organizations have probably noticed her shine, too.” 🌟🌟 When I debriefed the client, I shared the candidate’s qualifications and advised them to move quickly. After an initial interview, they deliberated — and then took a leap of faith. Instead of going through the motions, they canceled the follow-up interviews and made a strong offer, matching the candidate's desired salary and benefits. And guess what? That coveted all-star is now a part of their team. 💫 The recruiting rulebook exists for a reason. But sometimes, rules have to be altered or broken to secure the right candidate. And often, it’s only the eye of an experienced recruiter that can spot these special circumstances and alert a hiring partner to move quickly. In a tight housing market, you wouldn’t search for your dream home without a realtor. Recruiting is the same way — an experienced, strategic partner can make all the difference. Do you agree? Well said! I always say let me do what I do best so you can get back to doing what you do best.
Lauren Bencekovich agree. It is wonderful that you had a client that trusted your experience and instincts.
Great share Lauren Bencekovich. Sometimes the rules do need to be broken for those moments when you "just know" and time isn't going to be in your favor.
I agree! This is true for providers as well. I learned long ago that if the provider is interviewing with me, they are interviewing with other organizations as well. If I am really interested in a candidate, I make sure I am ready to make an offer.
Great insight that saved the day, Lauren!
I agree
Completely agree!
Sales Champion|National Sales Leader|Resilient Leadership|Blessed Husband & Father Life Mission: To help unlock the true potential in others. Adversity is a set-up for a step-up🔥
10moI have consistently hired and lead numerous national teams. I did 1 interview 1:1 and then made my decision. If there was a second it wasn’t an interview but a meet and greet informal discussion. As a leader—I owned every hire. I knew what I was looking for and it wasn’t on the resume. Results: Top award winning sales teams for past 20 years. Many of the hires never applied. I reached out to them. After initial connection, the interview was done in 48 hours or less. Job offer, day after interview. Job offer compensation, 10% more than top advertised offer. Why would I do this? I always under promise and over deliver. I set the tone out of the gate—you are a winner. I want you on my team and I will fight for you day one. I wonder if that did anything for their confidence? No haggling over compensation. No silly panel interviews by people that don’t know what to look for. No week after week of combing thru a resume that tells me little about who they really are and what their true potential is. You see, I often hire based on long term potential because I need someone to grow and get better.
