Hiring note... when we're in a hiring cycle, we review every single resume and portfolio. Make it easy on us! Sell your communication ability not necessarily with a flashy site, beautiful resume or an over the top email. Show us you are a storyteller by communicating clearly. That's it. Applying for a videographer position? Your reel or portfolio should be the easiest thing to grab from the application. Account Producer? Make relevant work so obvious it can't be ignored. We love interviewing and evaluating for culture fits, but getting in the door with hundreds of applicants looks like quality and clarity! There's no perfect mold for applicants, just pitch YOU in a way that simplifies our process!

I was thinking today about some of my favorite projects over the last few years, projects that that stand out for being both enjoyable, and importantly, effective for the client based on their goals.   While I love writing in the healthcare and ecommerce niches, I’m also super excited when I get to work with creative business builders.   One of my favorite projects in that niche was writing a landing page + email welcome/nurture sequence for a photographer whose goal was to get more client inquiries and booked projects.   But first, we had to figure out what the key barrier to hiring her was, then we used the email sequence to break that down and do some myth-busting around the topic.   The challenge: As a boudoir photographer, the problem wasn’t my client’s talents, skills, or experience as a photographer, it was something much deeper:   👉 In most cases, it was the beliefs the women who wanted to book a session held about how they needed to look to get flattering shots. 👈   We knew we needed to address those beliefs in a persuasive, yet supportive way, for my client to get more email subscribers, and ultimately, more clients.   Spoiler alert: it worked. 😊   ✨I wrote up a mini-case study about the experience with more details, sharing it here (link in comments) for anyone with a service-based business who wants to use email to nurture and convert potential clients. ✨

They want clarity and assurances from you that you won't only MEET but EXCEED their expectations. As a Recruiter that works with both candidates and hiring managers I want both of them to feel as they should. Like a brand. A brand gives you a feeling. Makes you feel seen, heard, validated. I look at is as I'm guiding my clients through a transformative experience. Make no mistake, every human being is on a transformational journey of some kind. Your brand's role is as a guide on that journey in their story, providing the wisdom, tools, and support they need to overcome challenges and achieve their goals. It's not about completing a transaction or a marketing campaign but about creating a meaningful connection that enriches their lives. The real magic happens when customers feel understood and valued, and when they see themselves as the Main Character in a story where they achieve greatness, with your brand as their trusted ally. This approach shifts the focus from YOU the brand as the central figure to the customer, emphasizing their journey, desires, and the transformation they experience through your products or services. We all want to be the hero of our own story. Stop being scared to make people feel special and heard. They are! WE ARE!

If you’re an eCommerce company, should you hire ONLY those who have previous in-house experience? This is something we get asked quite often. If we were to talk about roles such as media buyers, graphic designers, and video editors, hiring people with agency backgrounds will actually come in very handy. These candidates: ✅ Are used to a fast-paced environment ✅ Have broader experience working for various brands ✅ Their soft skills have been developed at a faster pace ✅ They will be able to bring on board previous processes and systems  ✅ They have a broader network of talent to recommend in the future Of course, there may be roles where having in-house experience is a must. However, before you go with that requirement blindly, evaluate why it is a must in the first place. What’s your take on this?
