Doulas offer invaluable support—from emotional guidance to advocacy, and even physical care, ensuring parents feel empowered and connected during their journey. Here are some more ways that doulas can provide comprehensive support to their clients: Emotional support looks like stress management with relaxation techniques and encouragement to bond with the baby. Advocacy support includes navigating medical jargon and policies to understand the care plan and advocating for parents' preferences in medical decisions, feeding, and comfort care within NICU protocols. Family support assists parents with coordinating schedules and support systems for family members to help balance home life with the NICU visits.
