When painting a room, it's not a bad idea to keep some left-over paint for future touch-ups. But gallon sized cans take up a lot of space. Instead, use clear glass jars (like for pasta sauce, baby food, etc.) to store some for later use. They'er easier to store an make finding th color you're looking for a breeze. • #HomeownersGuide • #HomeImprovementHacks • #HomeownerTips • #Homeownership

Soup is really difficult to take a good photo of. Its flat surface doesn't have enough texture to make it look appetizing. It also reflects studio lights to create unintended bright spots and glare. And solid ingredients in the soup will sink if you're not fast enough to take your photos. But none of that means you can't take great photos of soup. The trick is to: 🥄Add a dynamic element, like we do here with a pour. 🌿Strategically garnish the soup to break up its surface. 🌚Contrast the soup's color with darker elements around it. We know these tricks because we have decades of experience with all kinds of food products. That's how we know what to do and what not to do when it comes to soups. We're soup experts, if you will. ~~ Photo taken for Karola's Kitchen. Follow our LinkedIn page for more #foodphotography tips and tricks. ~~

Some designs that died before getting their due. Good things always come from killing off concepts. For instance, this color palette will make a come back as will some of the little details. I particularly liked the idea of using a wavy edge to these PSLs to make them stand out. #packagingdesigner #packagingideas #productpackaging #thedesignersleague #packagingdesigninspo #bestofpackaging #printdesign #packagingdesigner #packaginglove #packaginginspiration #foodpackaging #drinkpackaging #labeldesign #foodbranding #beveragebranding #packagingconcepts #brewery #brewerydesign #brewerybranding #beerbranding #beer

TRIMMING When you see the finished product of a cake made by a good baker, don't you just love it? But do you know what the cake had to pass through to come out that beautiful? I paid a visit to a friend and he was working on a cake, he had done everything so I met him TRIMMING. He trimmed until the cakes were equal in height and width. After that, he decorated it. The end product was so beautiful. Let's take a lesson or two from this narrative shall we? Sometimes, our lives seem to go through the process of a cake. It passes through hot oven and then just when you think the pain is all over since there is a cooling process, there comes the trimming. Why do I have to be trimmed? I mean I've got everything and I just went through fire, is there a need to trim? You see darling, with every trim, you become shaped up. No one remains the same after overcoming a problem. Though the problem might seem overwhelming but if you push through it, you become better and stronger. No matter how rich the cake is, if it's not well shaped, you won't like it or even appreciate it. If you don't find it attractive, you might not give it a chance. As loaded as you are, you need to be shaped up, trimmed in character, response, attitude, your speech and all. When you are going through trimming, understand that it is not to cut or hurt you but to shape you. When the baker trims the cake, he doesn't cut the cake, he only takes out some excesses and shapes it up and at the end, it becomes irresistibly beautiful. When you admire the glory, take time to check the story too. Before the glory of the cake is seen, it passes through heat and then there's the trimming to shape part which is not so sweet or enjoyable but at the end, it comes out beautiful. When you are passing your trimming process, don't give up, trust the process and when God is the baker then be rest assured that you would be an amazing cake if you'd let Him trim you up. Friendly. Charismatic. Pleasant. 🙂 These are all words we would use to describe Jeff Gentine, the June cover story subject and president and CEO of Masters Gallery Foods, Inc. While meticulously carving and building a still life of cheese wasn't on our bingo card for the year, placing Jeff on top certainly made for a fun end result. Things we learned from the experience: 🤤 After handling and tasting some of Masters Gallery Foods' cheeses, we can confidently confirm that they were all high quality in taste and texture. 🍕 There is rigorous testing involved in the excellence of meltable cheese. This is done in a gorgeous, immaculate kitchen (the location of the cover photo). 🧡 Masters Gallery Foods values its employees and their families (we saw how much firsthand!). 🧀 When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with cheddar. 📸 And last but not least – that the photos taken upon entering the facility for name badges will remain with you. For the entirety of your visit. Make sure you take a good one! The irony of this is not lost on us. How many of you use the terms crispy and crunchy interchangeably to describe a food? While sensory may use these interchangeably, texture analysis has very specific differences. Read below. https://lnkd.in/didGHqiY

One last ice cocktail for April and it'll be just in time for the event that puts this cocktail on the map, the Kentucky Derby and the Mint Julep. Crushed ice makes this drink, but regular old refrigerator crushed ice wont be fine enough to bring out the best in this cocktail. For this we need tools, mainly a Lewis bag and a mallet (rolling pins works swimmingly in a pinch). Lewis bags are typically canvas bags paired with a wooden mallet for crushing larger cubes into a smaller form. Keep pounding and the smaller that ice gets. For the mint julep we want a pretty fine ice, not shaved ice fine but close. Smash that ice up but be sure to place everything on a heavy cutting board to protect work surfaces. Below is a basic Mint Julep recipe, but there is no reason not to riff on it. Add a strawberry. top with a splash of ginger ale or bitters, use a Rye or higher proof bourbon or a splash of liqueur in place of the sugar. The Mint Julep 2oz Bourbon 1tsp powdered sugar Handful of mint leaves 2tsp water Mint sprig for garnish In a julep glass (rocks works too), lightly muddle the mint, water and sugar together. Add bourbon and pack glass with crushed ice. Stir until super chilled and frosty. Top with more ice to create a dome and garnish with a mint sprig. Bet the trifecta and cover the bar tab when you win. #designsketching #industrialdesign #productdesign #blueprints #cocktails #cocktailporn #lightingdesign #lightingporn #qlighting #qlightingdefined #qlsnc #craftcocktails #mintjulep #kentuckyderby
