Today, I came across a compelling piece highlighting the impact of a warming earth on recent storms. Research shows that storms with intense wind speeds are now 40% more frequent, with wind velocities increasing by approximately 11 mph due to global warming. This has resulted in Hurricane Milton hitting Florida as a Category 3 storm instead of a Category 2, solely because of the 1.3 degrees Celsius of warming since preindustrial times. I appreciate the efforts of President Biden and Vice President in tackling global warming and enhancing community resilience through significant investments. Their leadership is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by climate change. Happy Friday! Supporting one another through disasters and recovery is crucial. Community groups, faith groups and civic associations are doing amazing work in hurricane-impacted areas like Helene and Milton through mutual assistance. Many of these groups help distribute federal assistance. The National National VOAD is a valuable resource to discover these groups and get involved: https://lnkd.in/ewfEBEd3. Thank you Vice President Harris for your leadership. #leadershipcounts
