How long will the Opposition doubt the EC? Certain political parties persistently question the Election Commission, its decisions, and EVMs. If the EC fails to meet its constitutional obligations, the courts will not remain passive. Lawmakers should express their concerns in Parliament instead of rushing to court. #ElectionIntegrity #OppositionConcerns #ECTransparency #DemocraticProcess #EVMTrust #PoliticalAccountability #JudicialOversight #ParliamentaryDebate #DemocracyInAction #ElectionFairness

This has essentially been my question about the 'right to disconnect' legislation since it was announced by the Federal Government. In an attempt to provide people with more balance, would an unintended consequence be a reduction in the flexibility many people have in their employment relationships at the moment? Advocacy groups representing the interests of business certainly seem to think so. Some interesting considerations in this article from The Australian #flexibleworking #worklifebalance
Business leaders say the right to disconnect laws will kill flexibility, as Peter Dutton vowed to repeal them if the Coalition wins the next election: https://bit.ly/49aRndq

Sharing my view with TVRI World regarding the current idea of setting into motion the parliamentary right of inquiry (hak angket) by two presidential candidates in the 2024 general election. I think the political move will be protracted given the need of the two presidential candidates first to internally convince parties supporting their candidacy to be on board (they themselves are not party leaders), and then waging the battle in the house of representatives will take much time. This political route is certainly less preferable for a working democracy in contrast to the judicial route of taking post-election dispute to the constitutional court, normatively speaking. But more importanly, election result is not yet formally announced by General Election Commission. Hence a political move regarding post-election dispute is arguably rather premature. OHIO, WHERE DEMOCRACY GOES TO DIE What is the most fundamental thing about American democracy? It is a citizen's right to cast a ballot for their choice of president. What is the best way to kill American democracy? Keep one of the two viable nominees off the ballot so that only your favored candidate can win the election. Where is this happening? Ohio, where the leader of the Republican legislature said there will be no fix this year to Ohio election law that will prevent Joe Biden -- but not Donald Trump -- from appearing on the ballot. If there is one thing that is true about Republicans, it is that they learn what Vladimir Putin teaches them about gaining and retaining power completely and implement it whenever they can. https://lnkd.in/excVE7ge

There has been much discussion about the implication of the passage of Proposition 19 during the November General Election. Since its passage, legal professionals have been discussing and debating how to plan around Proposition 19’s elimination of most of the Parent-Child Exclusion. There are opportunities to plan around Proposition 19. Here are my thoughts on how to accomplish this before Proposition 19 goes into effect on February 15, 2021.... https://ayr.app/l/n5RM
