Just below the level of "National Historic Landmark" (of which there are only 2500 in the U.S.) are the buildings and objects listed on the "National Register of Historic Places" (of which there are more than 80,000). Newport has more than 40 of these structures including the Charles Baldwin House: https://lnkd.in/eBMAVQve This structure sits across the street from the Isaac Bell House and was an important step in the transition from the Queen Anne Revival Style to the invention of the Shingle Style. Corporate Executive Turned Tiny Home Builder and Certified Franchise Consultant 📈 Entrepreneurship 🏗️ Acorn Tiny Homes
Fantastic piece in yesterday's WSJ highlighting the value, use cases and growth of ADUs. The article notes, "There are many practical reasons why a homeowner might want to build an accessory dwelling: to house aging parents or adult offspring, or as an income-generating rental property. But some are designing them just for themselves. An ADU isn’t to be confused with a tiny house, which is a portable home on a platform that may have a composting toilet and other unappealing off-grid workarounds. The accessory dwelling unit is built to code and set on a solid foundation, with dedicated spaces for living and sleeping, a fully plumbed bathroom and kitchen, and appliances like a washer-dryer." Anchored Tiny Homes is launching in Chester and Lancaster Counties, PA soon. https://lnkd.in/eWZcwdZe #anchoredtinyhomes #customadu #adubuilder #tinyhomes #chestercounty #lancastercounty

Many people wonder which part of their house they should remodel first. While the answer can vary depending on the specific home, it's always wise to start by assessing your home for any design issues and addressing those. Begin by identifying your goals for the remodel and pinpointing the areas that need the most attention. Prioritize essential repairs like the foundation, roof, windows, plumbing, and heating/air systems if they need fixing. Once those basics are covered, focus on your design update list. Since kitchens and bathrooms typically offer the highest return on investment, we recommend prioritizing these areas for remodeling if they are outdated or undesirable. Need help in any renovation? A recent survey of housebuilders suggests that wider cavities are becoming the new industry norm, with 41% of participants already having made the switch to 150mm for new homes and just over a quarter considering it.
