I’m excited to reshare a recent publication from our school newsletter featuring research I co-authored with Prof.Elizabeth Dunn: "Hurricane Risk Perceptions and Evacuation Decision Making in the Post-Vaccination Era of COVID-19 in U.S. Atlantic Coastal States," published in Weather, Climate, and Society. In the wake of Hurricane Milton, which brought severe power outages and took an emotional toll on many of us, this study feels especially timely. Our research examines how risk perceptions during hurricanes—compounded by disease transmission threats like COVID-19—affect evacuation decisions. Findings like these are critical for shaping disaster preparedness strategies, especially as we face increasingly powerful storms due to global warming and the potential for recurring disease outbreaks. #PublicHealth #DisasterPreparedness #Research #COVID19 #HurricanePreparedness #EvacuationPlanning
