There is an interesting case going on right now. Ubisoft has shut down servers of The Crew, making the game unplayable. This was a racing game focused on online play that was sold for full price when it came out. Some people may think that in the digital era "ownership" of products you buy should mean something different. Something like having 24/7 access to my personal data and my bank account. As a consumer in this case, I don't see how such practices can benefit me. I want my 1200-games Steam library to be accessible as a bookshelf. Just imagine, you're 84, there's acid rain and ion storm behind the window, you remember the good times of 18-th Stock Market Collapse, you are cozy AF in your rocker. You spin up a copy of Viva Piñata and spend the rest of the day gaming. The Life. The life that we may not see if we don't stand up for our rights. There were, of course, other examples of the same happening before. But sometimes you just need to make the right person pissed off.
