Check out the Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Highlands 2 Reservoir video! This 126,000-gallon (477 million liter) reservoir features 840,000 ft² of 60 mil HypaFlex® CSPE geomembrane and a 45 mil HypaFlex® CSPE floating cover system. The project not only enhances water safety but also optimizes efficiency for Pittsburgh's water infrastructure. By using advanced geosynthetics, it ensures long-term durability and protection for vital water resources, providing a sustainable solution for the city’s growing needs. https://loom.ly/imcOudA #Innovation #Layfield #Geosynthetics

Reservoir Engineering - Clay Swelling Understanding the impact of connate water and low salinity filtrate on formation clays is crucial for optimizing reservoir permeability. - Connate Water: Formation clays surrounding sand grains reach equilibrium with connate water to achieve maximum permeability. - Low Salinity Filtrate: The swelling and dislodging of formation clays due to low salinity filtrate lead to blocked pore throats, subsequently reducing permeability. #ReservoirEngineering #ClaySwelling #ConnateWater #LowSalinityFiltrate #PermeabilityOptimization

Contaminants were identified in the subsurface at Rhine Main Air Base, Germany, in a sand and gravel aquifer. Their focus was to investigate the vertical and spatial distribution of the contaminants and to better quantify vertical groundwater flow. Based on the following advantages, a multilevel monitoring system was determined to be the best option for this site investigation; eliminates contaminant mixing, collects vertically discrete samples, prevents biases due to ambient flow, improves sample quality, and reduces costs: https://lnkd.in/g_ZDNcVn

Disused voids are common place and need filling for safety and structural reasons. In this case at Tunstall Reservoir, Geobear used its versatile geopolymer solutions to fill a disused 120m long adit tunnel, ensuring the structural stability of the reservoir. Despite the challenges of rough-hewn walls, site accessibility, and potential obstructions, our team executed the project within the two-week timeframe, reducing carbon emissions by up to 75% compared to alternative methods. #Geobear #Infrastructure #Sustainability #EngineeringExcellence #ProjectSuccess Read more👇👇 https://lnkd.in/dDTs46Uy

The February 2022 release of #HydroGeoSphere (Revision 2356) introduced an advanced boundary condition: the reservoir with spillway. This new feature builds upon the basic reservoir boundary condition, offering enhanced control over water release in your models. With parameters for surcharge reservoir storage, spillway discharge rates, and gate discharge, this boundary condition simulates complex hydraulic operations with greater precision. Unlike the basic reservoir BC, which relies solely on time-value tables, the reservoir with spillway incorporates inflow hydrographs, spillway discharge, and overflow discharge mechanisms, making it an invaluable tool for realistic water management scenarios. Have questions about applying the reservoir with spillway boundary condition? Check out our tutorial below, and let us know how you’re incorporating it into your projects! https://lnkd.in/gKK85DVg
