#LCIF2 portfolio company ADAPTAVATE is on a mission to decarbonise the construction sector, starting with its innovative, low-CO2 wallboard, Breathaboard. Featuring conventional paper lined on each side, the rest of the composition is made from fibrous byproducts rather than gypsum. Tom Robinson, founder of CEO and Adaptavate, recently sat down with the Global Gypsum Magazine to discuss how Breathaboard is manufactured, monitoring environmental impact and plans for the future. How does Oxara plan to transform the construction industry? “Oxara doesn’t aim to overhaul the infrastructure and processes of the construction industry. One can continue doing the same jobs and using the same concrete mixers, just with an alternative product. We believe that every building material has its place. You can't build bridges with a clay product; it doesn't bear enough weight. In this area, concrete will remain unmatched for a long time. However, for screeds or non-load-bearing interior walls, cement is not necessary. We’re not saying: Let’s build without cement. We’re saying: Let’s build without cement where it makes sense.” – Gnanli Landrou for “Planet A”, the climate newsletter of NZZ Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eKwJuGUG #ConstructionInnovation #SustainableBuilding #GreenTech Brigitte Wenger NZZ Sustainable Switzerland

And to end our Earth Day week, consider how much more it means that TerraLam access mats are made with Southern Yellow Pine. For example, the lightweight nature of TerraLam allows for more mats to be transported per trip compared to most other mat types, creating longer access roads faster. This results in less truck and heavy equipment usage and less total miles driven, which means substantially reduced CO2 emissions for each project. Moreover, the decrease in truck and heavy equipment traffic not only lowers carbon emissions but also reduces other, lesser known pollutants, such as the rubber and iron particulates shed from tires and brakes into the immediate area. TerraLam CLT mats contribute to environmental protection in many ways during and after production, aligning with the commitment to a cleaner, healthier planet. And did you know different versions of TerraLam that come off the same production line are also utilized in building construction? These eco-friendly, building material certified structural panels provide a sustainable alternative to conventional materials like concrete and steel for certain types of structures, lessening our reliance on carbon-intensive resources. With their lighter weight, carbon storage benefits, and lower emissions during production, TerraLam structural CLT panels are at the forefront of sustainable construction practices. Sustainability should not merely be a goal; it should be a shared mission. Through the adoption of innovative solutions like TerraLam CLT mats, we can enhance site efficiency while actively contributing to environmental well-being. Let's work together to build a greener future, one construction project at a time! #Sustainability #CLT #Construction #CarbonEmissions #TerraLam #SterlingSiteAccessSolutions

Co-founder @Coliseum | Transforming construction with circular materials | Advocate for sustainable building and innovation | Belgium's 40 under 40
To build, we must deconstruct 🏗️♻️ At Coliseum Construction, we believe that sustainable construction isn't just about using eco-friendly materials—it's about rethinking the entire process. And sometimes, to build a better future, you have to start by considering the available resources & their intrinsic value. 🔄 What does this mean? For us, deconstruction is more than demolition. It's about carefully dismantling buildings to salvage what can be reused, giving materials a second life. Each piece we reclaim—whether it’s bricks, steel, or wood—becomes a building block for something new and sustainable. 💡 Why does it matter? In an industry that produces 30% of global waste, it's time for a change. By reusing what already exists, we reduce waste, save resources, and lower carbon emissions. At Coliseum, our mission is to lead this shift, proving that the future of construction lies in circularity. It’s not always easy, and it challenges the traditional ways of building, but we believe that real progress requires us to break down old habits—quite literally. What do you think? How can we push the construction industry to embrace deconstruction and reuse? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Construction

📣 Exhibitor Announcement 📣 We're excited to welcome Ecocem Global as an exhibitor at the Precast and Masonry Expo 2024 on June 13th! "Ecocem is a pioneer of high-performance technology that significantly reduces CO2 emissions in the cement and construction industries. Its technology reduces the carbon footprint of the traditional cement manufacturing process by at least half. For more than 20 years, Ecocem has been developing, manufacturing, and supplying low carbon cement and construction solutions. It provides the lowest carbon cement ever used in Europe at scale, reducing the CO2 footprint of concrete by over a factor of eight. Ecocem recently announced ACT, a new scalable technology which can enable up to 70% CO2 reduction without excessive cost, making it globally scalable and rapidly deployable. From Le Grand Paris to Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, and the UK’s high-speed railway HS2, Ecocem has achieved a cumulative reduction in CO2 emissions of almost 16 million tonnes. An independent company with a world-class innovation center and four manufacturing facilities across Europe, Ecocem’s technology, products, and services are helping the cement and concrete industries to cost-effectively decarbonize in alignment with the Paris Accord – and ultimately, build a more sustainable future for all.“ Join Ecocem and secure your complimentary ticket here: https://lnkd.in/edCFuipk #PrecastExpo2024 #ConcreteInnovation #EcocemGlobal #CarbonReduction #SustainableConstruction #InnovationInConcrete #Decarbonization #BuildingASustainableFuture

SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION INNOVATION Concrete is responsible for 8% of global CO2 emissions, and while it remains the most popular building material, we cannot quickly replace it due to the growing global demand for housing. For decades, researchers and companies have been striving to improve concrete's formula and reduce its carbon footprint. Despite their efforts, a universally easy, affordable, and implementable solution remains elusive. In 2010, Geoplast introduced New Nautilus, a recycled plastic formwork that reduces concrete usage by 20 to 30%. By integrating New Nautilus into concrete slabs—the largest consumers of concrete—we create voided slabs that are lighter and require significantly less concrete. These slabs not only lower the carbon footprint but also enhance safety. The best part about New Nautilus is its global applicability, offering a viable solution to reduce the concrete carbon footprint today. Learn more about sustainable construction and join us in this journey. Follow Geoplast S.p.A. for more innovative solutions. #ResilientTimes #R3SILIENT #innovation
