Did I say yesterday which panel I am looking forward the most to at this year's Making Vinyl Conference? Well, expect me to change my mind now on a daily basis - just as we roll along announcing details to all our panels and presentations. But seriously, it's not a race, it's all of them, all together - bringing them all on the same bus and form or better, strengthen a community that was built over the last years. And strength comes with problem-solving. The first step in solving a problem is noticing there is one: It is an undeniable fact that societal changes demand us as pop-cultural workers to continuously reassess our practices to remain at the forefront of innovation. Calls for a £1 ticket levy on stadiums and arenas have been given the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee’s seal of approval. 📄 Now is the time for industry to find consensus on delivering a voluntary levy, ensuring its parameters and delivery are set by industry experts. If not, our political parties must include a commitment to introducing a statutory scheme by September 2024 in their General Election manifestos.
