It's well known that I'm a recruiter for the P&C insurance industry and I've helped solve my client's recruiting problems and helped advance careers since 1995 all over the US, Canada and Europe. >WOW!! I've been doing this for over 28 years. I can't believe it! >When I started in the recruiting business I didn't even know that Headhunters (recruiters) were a thing. And, I certainly didn't know that I'd be any good at it. >What I learned was that as long as I listen to people and repeat what they toll me to the enough other people I'll find success. My success! My client's success! My candidate's success! * I listen to my clients. They tell me what they want in a good candidate. *I listen to professionals and they tell me what they want to do next in their careers. * It always comes down to listening and finding the right person at the right time. I never force someone to do anything. I really can't do that. Sometimes I joke around and say that I'll sneak up on them from behind one day and knock them on the head and put them in a sack and drag them over to my client's office. But, when they eventually come-to they'll just go back to where they were before. All I can do is to listen and to help people make their own decision by answering questions and maybe make them aware of something that they might not have considered before. **Here are some of the professionals that I'd like to have conversations with and listen to what they want to do next in their careers. #propertyriskengineers My client has many openings in the USA for entrepreneurial minded #fieldengineers with #fireprotectionengineers experience in #propertyinsurance. Positions are remote and in #FL #SC #NC #GA #KY #TN #KY #IN #IL #MN #WI but for people who don't mind a bit of extra travel I can talk to experienced #Riskengineers anywhere Another one of my very long time clients (25 years) needs an experienced #middlemarket #Underwriter in #STL #stlouis. This is a great position for someone who wants to take ownership of their territory and to work with a national A+ carrier that is small enough for an #underwriter in the branch to really have a meaningful relationship with the home office. You won't be just another nameless number. And, if you are a true #multiline #adjuster in #ATL #atlanta I'd love to have a conversation with you! If you like handling a claim, large or small, from beginning to end and to leave your mark on the file throughout the claim's entire lifespan; this is the spot for you. My client is A+ and every adjuster is an integral part of this company's long and successful 100+ years of existence!

I rarely post any comments on this platform, although I do read a lot of posts from those that I follow. Today is a bit of a rant, because I am getting a bit weary hearing about the lack of availability of good people for hire. Here in the Fresno - Madera area of California, I know two young people, private school educated, Cal State graduates who worked their way through college, obtained business degrees, and cannot find even entry level jobs. Both of these individuals would show up every day, want to be in the office, and gain experience and begin careers leveraging their fields of interest. My more recent experience hiring college educated young people without experience has been unbelievably good. Many of them are already emerging leaders on great career paths. Resumes and emails don't get responded to at all. Completely ignored, which frankly, is unprofessional behavior from hiring managers. If any of you reading this post have or know of an opening for work with a degreed candidate, from a good family, that will show up every day and contribute while committing to learn and gain experience, please let me know. If they were interested in the insurance industry I would hire both of them. Rant completed.

Yesterday I posted a job opening we have at Elevate Financial Group. We got 100+ applicants (crazy!!). But I want to share what I wish I knew when I was on the job hunt ⬇️ 1. Shoot your shot. You don't need to tick every box. 2. Follow the "how to apply" section. It's an easy way to stand out! 3. Eliminate self-doubt and trust yourself. The worst case scenario is you're in the same position as you are now. Best case? New career. 4. You don't need to do anything wild to stand-out. Standing out often just requires you to follow the steps appropriately and follow-up. 5. Once you apply, email/DM the hiring manager. Get on their radar. But don't have an ask. It's daunting applying for new jobs. But now being on the other side for the previous few years, I wish I knew these things. I would have applied for many, many more positions. And a lot of them would have 'stretched' me.

People Connector | Career Matchmaker | Insurance Geek 😉 A recruiter to know if you're an insurance professional sick of hiring/job search BS. 👊
If you're in search of a new job and see a posting with 200 applicants - don't let that discourage you. If you're qualified, apply. I can't tell you how many times people reach out to me to apply for a job I have posted and they are so far off the mark, I just scratch my head. Sometimes it's something as simple as location... The post clearly states "Remote, but must reside in PA for monthly agency visits" and the person lives in CA. 🤔 Other times, it's a complete lack of the required experience.... The role requires 10+ years of experience and the person has 6 months of experience, but because the position is remote and they WANT remote, they claim "it's a perfect fit!" 🙄 Or the position requires 10+ years of deep expertise with large construction accounts and the person's background is all at State Farm. Look, there are jobs out there for everyone, of all backgrounds! But this whole "throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks" approach to job searching is what's soaking up hiring managers' time - they're sifting thru 100 applicants to find 2 who actually fit. ❌ If you're new to the insurance industry, don't apply for a high level management position. ❌ If you've never been in sales, you're probably not the ideal hire for sales leader. ❌ If you live on the west coast, you aren't able to do monthly agency visits in the northeast. Please just exercise common sense. 🤦♀️ All that to say - ✅ If the post says it requires 8 years and you have 6, go for it. ✅ If it requires a CPCU and you are 2 exams from finishing, go for it. ✅ If a college degree is required but you have your CPCU and oodles of directly applicable job experience, go for it! If you mostly fit the bill, APPLY! My guess is more often than not, all that "competition" you are seeing might just be noise. #goforit #apply #pleaseusecommonsense #letsstopwastingpeoplestime #candidates #hiring #insurance #insurancecareer #cpcu #cic #cisr #accountexecutiv #underwriter #recruiter #recruiterlife #insurancerecruiter
