We work with many Practice Directors when it comes to helping practices with hiring. The range of experience is wide; from decades of experience in the role, to the ops employee who was recently promoted… and of course the new Practice Director coming from another field. Here are a few common mistakes we see with the role. The Rush To Delegate: The busy practitioner has heard it from their peers and their coach that they need to hire a “right hand” person… an integrator, a PRACTICE DIRECTOR. They finally find the right person. GREAT. Then comes the DELEGATION of anything non-revenue generating…only the delegation often comes too heavy and too fast. Merging: In any small and growing business, employees will wear multiple hats. Often times we see independent practices merge the Practice Director role with other responsibilities.
