The term Measurement-Informed Care (MIC) is gaining traction in the mental healthcare space right now, recognized as another evidence-based approach to care. But what is MIC? And how does it differ from Measurement-Based Care (MBC)? The answer? They mean the same thing! #MIC and #MBC are terms often used interchangeably. And while some may argue that there are subtle differences in their focus and process, the two essentially refer to a similar practice. At their core, both involve the systematic collection and use of measurement tools (like patient-reported outcome measures or #PROMs) throughout care to inform and improve the quality of mental health treatment. Both MBC and MIC emphasize the consistent collection and integration of outcome measurements (collected through PROMS, clinical interviews, or physiological assessments) to inform the therapeutic process and treatment planning. By definition, MIC involves using measurement data to collaboratively inform treatment decisions, set goals, and engage clients in their care by encouraging a more dynamic and collaborative approach between clinician and client. The emphasis in MIC, as it is with MBC, is on the therapeutic relationship and using outcome data as a tool to guide the therapeutic process, fostering shared decision-making and enhanced client engagement throughout their treatment. Though some believe MBC is less focused on leveraging data throughout the care process, this isn’t the case. Most experts, like our partners at the Yale Measurement-Based Care Collaborative (YMBCC), emphasize the collaborative nature of MBC. The YMBCC uses ‘Collect, Share, Act’ to define this process, where ‘Share’ is focused on leveraging data during sessions with clients and getting curious about their symptom changes together, in order to inform treatment decisions. At Greenspace, we often refer to the ‘4 C’s of MBC’, where 'Collaboration' is a foundational component of any successful MBC implementation. To summarize, both MIC and MBC share the overarching goal of improving the quality and effectiveness of mental healthcare services through the collection of PROMs and collaborative use of outcome data throughout care. Whichever term your clinical team uses, what matters is that you’re using an evidence-based approach to treatment that centers the client's voice in care and empowers them to be active partners in the process, which is proven to have a significant and positive impact on client engagement and clinical outcomes. #outcomes #mentalhealth #behavioral health #measurementbasedcare #measurementinformedcare

There is no denying that there is a definitive need to completely change the way mental and behavioral health professionals keep track of their patients' visits. The bigger question is how can this be achieved. As tech advancements gain precedence in improving clinical outcomes, emerging health tech platforms provide customizable prompts and templates that let practitioners record all the important details during patient appointments, making sure that everything is accurately documented. The customizable prompts give practitioners the flexibility to adapt their documentation process to the specific needs of their patients and practice. This means that no important information gets missed, resulting in more thorough and accurate patient records. These prompts can also capture a wide range of mental and behavioral health issues, like mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and trauma, helping practitioners effectively address their patients' needs. By capturing all relevant information during patient visits, our platform helps practitioners make well-informed decisions about patient care, leading to better treatment outcomes. Should you wish to deliver top-notch care to your patients, reach out to our team of experts on how our platform can be easily plugged in at NO ADDITIONAL UPFRONT COST. We are always open to collaboration and welcome any inquiries about how our platform can support your practice. Please feel free to reach out to us at sales@mindwisehealth.com. Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the second roundtable session of Vennue Foundation’s new program: 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒄𝒚 themed "𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲: 𝑺𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆." The discussion aligns perfectly with my commitment to enhancing #patientcare by integrating #mentalhealth services into the pharmacy setting. The action plan includes training staff, developing referral systems, maintaining medication stocks, and promoting mental well-being activities to support our community better. This discussion not only enhanced my knowledge and skills but also empowered me to contribute more effectively to the well-being of our community, especially in rural areas where access to mental health services is limited. I can't go without extending my heartfelt gratitude to the Vennue Foundation for organizing such an impactful and insightful discussion. Let's continue to break the stigma and integrate mental health into every aspect of health care! #MentalHealth #Pharmacy #Healthcare #PatientCare #CommunityHealth

THE POWER 💪 OF UNDERSTANDING THE PSYCHOLOGICAL SIDE OF HEALTH. 📌In healthcare, the mind and body are intrinsically linked. While clinical skills and medical knowledge are essential, recognizing the psychological aspect of health is equally crucial. Our mental well-being profoundly impacts physical health, recovery, and overall quality of life. This understanding forms the foundation of compassionate, holistic care. 📌In my experience as a healthcare professional, including [mention any specialized area such as telehealth, Medicare, patient support], I've witnessed how addressing the emotional and mental aspects of a patient’s journey leads to better health outcomes. A person’s mental state can influence everything from medication adherence to their engagement in treatment plans. It’s why empathy, active listening, and personalized support are central to my approach. 📌As healthcare increasingly integrates telehealth and remote support, the psychological connection we build with patients remains vital. Even through screens, a keen awareness of patients' emotional states allows us to guide them more effectively, easing anxieties and fostering trust. 📌Understanding the psychological side of health doesn’t just make us better clinicians; it makes us better humans. By approaching each interaction with empathy and insight, we create a healthcare experience that truly supports and uplifts our patients. #HolisticHealthcare #MindBodyWellness #PatientCenteredCare #HealthcareEmpathy #MentalHealthInHealthcare #CompassionInNursing #TelehealthCare

Corporate Speaker | Expert in Functional Neurology, Stress Management & High Performance | Helping Leaders Thrive.
The health practitioners industry is changing. Here are my 3 controversial predictions for 2024 and beyond. 1. Understanding the Nervous system thoroughly, not just generally is now ESSENTIAL for any health practitioner who wants to obtain consistently excellent results in the clinic. Always start with the nervous system with all your clients If we know everyone has a nervous system, and that system is designed to keep us safe, and when it feels safe it grants us limitless potential, so wouldn't it make sense to start there first? ✅ Spend time at the beginning of the session or client journey establishing neurological safety, so your client's body/mind will accept your interventions. 2. Making educated guesses based on outdated methodologies and questionable science will no longer cut it. Use the results in your practice and from your chosen mentors as the barometer for valid methods. Regurgitating old methods that only yield marginal returns will not only harm your reputation but also waste the client's money. ✅ Be courageous enough to try things that seem out of the norm if they prove to be successful. If the client genuinely wants to get better, they won't give a shit and will be thankful for your help 😉. 3. If you can't communicate clearly what you do, you will help less people. You must acknowledge that you are in business, and to grow that business and help more people you must be able to communicate/market. No matter how talented you are in the clinic, if no one knows you are there or how you can help them, they won't see you. ✅ Start learning how your clients think and use words they would use, (not your technical jargon), to explain their pains and ideal outcomes. Start writing down the common pains, challenges and dream goals of the clients you see and want to work with so you can connect to them on their level. You can become a booked-out practitioner by leveraging neurology and improving communication. Take small steps, acknowledge that there will be challenges, and give yourself the respect to keep showing up. Follow me @functionalneurohealth to deliver exceptional results in your practice in 2024.

Did you know that physicians spend 30% of their time documenting progress notes? A study published by AMA reported that 3.17 hours are logged on average for desktop medicine each day. Only 27% of a physician's day is spent focusing on seeing patients one-on-one. There is no point in denying the realities of the healthcare industry. The provider community is battling mental health issues due to exhaustion and burnout. Solution? Administraive Changes + Empathy + Technology I have marked eight ways to help avoid manual healthcare processes and burnout. What more can we add to this list? Any suggestions?

Are you familiar with the concept of trauma-informed care? It's a game-changer in the health and wellness field! ✨ “Trauma-informed care is really about understanding and recognizing the pervasiveness of trauma, as well as what we can do as practitioners, providers, and administrators to understand how people have been affected by psychological trauma,” explained Dr. Alane Lucht (DC, MA, LADC, LPC). “It’s really about recognizing that certain behavioral or health issues may have roots in psychological trauma experiences.” There’s not one single way to practice trauma-informed care. It’s not a step-by-step system, or even a modality, but rather a way of approaching patient care. Learning how to be trauma-informed is a way of being, thinking, and treating. This is in addition to the treatments you perform or the recommendations you give. Incorporating a trauma-informed approach into your practice will help you better understand the whole picture of your patients’ health. If you want to learn more about trauma-informed care, check out the Master of Health Science in Integrative Care at NWHSU. 📢Ready to unlock a whole new level of patient care?
