One thing I know is we need more elders in this world like Ronald Bennett. Not to mention that leadership begets leadership. I have been lucky enough to get his support. Now everyone can via his new book: The Engineers Guide To Authentic Leadership. Ron brings all of his career and educational experiences to bear. Over 1/3 of the book is devoted to interviews and case examples of various executives and leaders. The combination of the tools and leader examples makes this a great resource for finding even more resources to help along the personal growth and leadership journey.

People post endlessly here about how superior leadership is to management. But it’s a false dichotomy – you always need both. Great leadership inspires people with the promise of a different and better future; Great management means coaching people to be the best versions of themselves. So we can arrive at that shared vision of the future together.

Leadership Thought #24 “Real leadership comes into play when the unthinkable happens, when dark clouds loom in the sky, when storms are on the horizon, and the need for new leaders becomes a necessity.” I wonder what you understand when you read these wise words from Mohammed Murad, International President of Toastmasters 2014 - 2015. His words make me think that in tough times there exists the possibility for new leaders to emerge or step up to help people through that tough situation. It also makes me think that when the chips are down a leader has to draw on all of the necessary leadership skills at their disposal to be engaged and demonstrate themselves as a leader and not to abdicate. What about you?

Many people see the perks of leadership, but many leaders pay the price of leadership as well. When you are striving to become one of the greats, you will stumble; you will have to learn from your mistakes and evolve to ensure you are growing with the pace of change. The most successful leaders have often encountered criticism or been labeled as failures. What sets them apart is their commitment to embracing mistakes as part of the creative process.
